As a result, the required feed has been estimated about 150 million cubic feet per day and the net capital investment calculated to be 941 million US dollars. The initial estimate of Direct Permanent Investment (DPI) was calculated to be $590.8 million. Having considered...

The Bi Ni-Au nanoparticles for this purpose were synthesized by controlled reduction of HAuCl3 and NiCl3 in the aqueous medium using NaBH4 as reductant and PVP as stabilizer, and immobilized on the surface of a glassy carbon (GC) electrode by means of Nafion polymer. The obtained electrode then was conditioned in an alkaline solution by cyclic voltammetric method in potential range 100 -700 mV (vs. Ag/AgCl). Physicochemical characterizations of the...

    Abstract
By combustion, waste toxic, flammable and corrosive materials are changed to less inviromental problems by combustion. It also creats environmental problems (the most serios problem is caused by burning gases), as well as economic resources are wasted. So several ways was investigated to reduce combustion gases. Mini-methanol plant is one of varios possible ways that can convert these gases in to methanol. So methanol plant was simulated and then pinch analysis was performed on the simulated plant. Performing of pinch analysis caused 94.5 percent and 25 percent reduction in amaunt of hot and cold utility respectively. Before and after pinch analysis, the exergy analysis was performed on...

Technical and Economical Feasibility Study of Using Flare Gas for Converting to Other Products in Iran

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Marouf Mashat, Azadeh (Author) ; Sattari, Sourena (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The Increasing trend of gas flaring over oil fields and gas process systems in Iran not only causes several environmental problems, but makes the economical resources useless as well. Considering the high amount of flaring and old facilities, one of the best solutions is the recovery of the flare gas in Iran. It seems that collecting the flare gas is not possible in different sectors. Therefore, using a plant for converting flare gas to other products must be logical. In this project, the feasibility study of converting flare gas to other products is studied. For this reason, a methanol plant is simulated; whose input feed is the content of flare gas of the South of Iran (Marun and Siri)....

Experimental Investigation of Using Phase Change Material Effect on Heat Transfer in Pool Boiling Process

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Behzadi, Mohammad Matin (Author) ; Shafii, Mohammad Behshad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
One of the different methods of heat transfer, is pool boiling process. In this method, the operating fluid starts to boil on a hot surface whose temperature is more than boiling point of the fluid. Based on difference between between surface temperature and fluid boiling point, amount of heat flux from hot surface to fluid and fluid behavior will be different. In recent years, many researchers have tried to improve the amount of heat transfer in the boiling process by using various methods such as nanoparticle addition or using magnetic field.Latent heat is thermal energy released or absorbed, by a body or a thermodynamic system, during a constant-temperature process, usually a first-order...

These simulations were the stepping stone for in-depth knowledge of the processes and also a prerequisite for the chemical process optimizations. From then, realistic simulation and optimization were always a primary concern for chemical engineers. To address this concern, they go beyond the one-dimensional design approach toward the two-dimensional design-operation systems, and the design-control interaction of the chemical processes afterward. Moreover, optimizing chemical processes from the aspect of energy and water, separately, gained lots of...

“Modeling and Control of Methanol to Propylene Reactor”

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Taherifar, Roghayeh (Author) ; Shahrokhi, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Methanol to Olefin (MTO) process is a part of the Methanol to Gasoline (MTG) production in a catalytic bed. Usually for this process, HZSM-5 or SAPO-n catalyst is used. In this research, dynamic modeling and simulation of the methanol to olefin catalytic reactor using HZSM-5 as the catalyst is done. The system is modeled based on the kinetic model for HZSM-5 presented by Castilla in 1999 [22]. Since the reaction is exothermic, taking use of a cooling system is essential. According to the high reactor temperature, a molten salt environment is used as the cooling media. In this cooling system, the molten salt absorbs heat of reaction from the reactor tubes and transfers it to a coil connected...
