    Abstract
Novel organic-inorganic hybrid heterogeneous nanocatalysts were obtained by covalent anchoring of a molybdenum(vi) complex of salicylidene 2-picoloyl hydrazine, MoO2(sal-phz)(CH3OH), (1) on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles functionalized by one of two routes: in the first method, the surface of magnetic nanoparticles is directly modified with 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane yielding 1A. In the second method, magnetic nanoparticles were silica-coated with tetraethoxysilane and then with 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane yielding the intermediate 2B. Then complex 1 was grafted on the surface of 1A or 2B through covalent interaction yielding 2A or 3B, respectively. The nanocatalysts 2A and 3B...

Optimal magnetic field for crossing super-para-magnetic nanoparticles through the Brain Blood Barrier: A computational approach

    , Article Biosensors ; Volume 6, Issue 2 , 2016 ; 20796374 (ISSN) Pedram, M. Z ; Shamloo, A ; Alasty, A ; Ghafar Zadeh, E ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This paper scrutinizes the magnetic field effect to deliver the superparamagnetic nanoparticles (SPMNs) through the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB). Herein we study the interaction between the nanoparticle (NP) and BBB membrane using Molecular Dynamic (MD) techniques. The MD model is used to enhance our understanding of the dynamic behavior of SPMNs crossing the endothelial cells in the presence of a gradient magnetic field. Actuation of NPs under weak magnetic field offers the great advantage of a non-invasive drug delivery without the risk of causing injury to the brain. Furthermore, a weak magnetic portable stimulator can be developed using low complexity prototyping techniques. Based on MD...

    Royal Society of Chemistry  2019
    Abstract
Due to its high discharge capacity, low cost, and good safety, LiNi0.5Co0.2Mn0.3O2 (NCM 523) is regarded as a promising cathode material for the next-generation of lithium-ion batteries. However, poor cycling stability and rate capability are the main disadvantages of the NCM 523 cathode material. In this work, SiO2 single layer-coated and reduced graphene oxide (outer)/SiO2 (inner) double layer-coated NCM 523 have been prepared by a facile wet chemical method. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Raman spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy results confirm that NCM 523...

    Abstract
Theoretical calculations of structural parameters, 57Fe, 14N and 17O electric field gradient (EFG) tensors for full size-hemin group have been carried out using density functional theory. These calculations are intended to shed light on the difference between the geometry parameters, nuclear quadrupole coupling constants (QCC), and asymmetry parameters (ηQ) found in three spin states of hemin; doublet, quartet and sextet. The optimization results reveal a significant change for propionic groups and porphyrin plane in different spin states. It is found that all principal components of EFG tensor at the iron site are sensitive to electronic and geometry structures. A relationship between the...

    Abstract
This paper compares the Shuffling-Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (Shuffling-ANFIS) with conventional ANFIS as the method for selecting the features of nonlinear systems. Shuffling-ANFIS technique uses the advantage of data splitting with the ANFIS as a powerful feature selection method to select the most important factors affecting nonlinear phenomena. In this technique, the features with the largest percent of frequency can be found by running the conventional ANFIS sequential forward search on the large number of training and test sets using leave-one-out validation criteria. The superiority of Shuffling-ANFIS over the conventional ANFIS was evaluated by using two synthetic and one...

A novel technique to semi-quantitatively study the stability of emulsions and the kinetics of the coalescence under different dynamic conditions

    , Article Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects ; Vol. 460 , 2014 , pp. 327-332 ; ISSN: 09277757 Karbaschi, M ; Orr, R ; Bastani, D ; Javadi, A ; Lotfi, M ; Miller, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The kinetics of coalescence is studied experimentally using a new technique for tracking the process in the bulk phase. For this aim, aqueous solutions of KSCN (colorless) and FeCl3 (light yellow) are used to make individual W/O emulsions. Any coalescence occurred between drops containing KSCN solution and those containing FeCl3 solution would combine these solutions. This leads to a reddish brown solution due to the formation of iron(III)thiocyanate. The intensity change of this red color with time represents the dynamics of coalescence occurring between drops of different emulsified aqueous droplets. The detector response to any changes in the system is recorded as a function of time. In...

    Abstract
Metabonomics and other "omic" fields are essential science in analytical chemistry. Modern analytical instruments such as proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) can provide the great quantity of analytical information. In order to assign unknown samples, chemometric methods recognition build classification model based on experimental data. Firstly, some current strategies regarding disease diagnosis are exhibited in metabonomic studies. Some diseases such as crohn's disease can be difficult to diagnose since its signs and symptoms may be similar to other medical problems or often mimic other symptoms. Applications of NMR and supervised pattern recognition in the field of metabonomics are...
