    , Article Analytical Chemistry ; Volume 79, Issue 12 , 2007 , Pages 4507-4513 ; 00032700 (ISSN) Zhang, X ; Eshaghi, A ; Musteata, F. M ; Ouyang, G ; Pawliszyn, J ; Sharif University of Technology
    2007
    Abstract
An integrated microsampling approach based on solid-phase microextraction (SPME) was developed to provide a complete solution to highly efficient and accurate pharmacokinetic studies. The microsampling system included SPME probes that are made of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) and C18-bonded silica, a fast and efficient sampling strategy with accurate kinetic calibration, and a high-throughput desorption device based on a modified 96-well plate. The sampling system greatly improved the quantitative capability of SPME in two ways. First, the use of the C18-bonded silica/PEG fibers minimized the competition effect from analogues of the target analytes in a complicated sample matrix such as blood...

    , Article Colloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces ; Volume 103 , March , 2013 , Pages 652-657 ; 09277765 (ISSN) Hosseini, F ; Panahifar, A ; Adeli, M ; Amiri, H ; Lascialfari, A ; Orsini, F ; Doschak, M. R ; Mahmoudi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Nanoparticles (SPIONs) were synthesized and coated with pseudopolyrotaxanes (PPRs) and proposed as a novel hybrid nanostructure for medical imaging and drug delivery. PPRs were prepared by addition of α-cyclodextrin rings to functionalized polyethylene glycol (PEG) chain with hydrophobic triazine end-groups. Non-covalent interactions between SPIONs and PPRs led to the assembly of SPIONs@PRs hybrid nanomaterials. Measurements of the 1H Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) relaxation times T1 and T2 allowed us to determine the NMR dispersion profiles. Comparison between our SPIONs@PRs hybrid nano-compound and the commercial SPION compound, Endorem®, showed a higher...

Modeling of retention behaviors of most frequent components of essential oils in polar and non-polar stationary phases

    , Article Journal of Separation Science ; Volume 34, Issue 13 , 2011 , Pages 1538-1546 ; 16159306 (ISSN) Jalali Heravi, M ; Ebrahimi Najafabadi, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
The gas chromatography retention indices of 100 different components of essential oils, on three columns with stationary phases of different polarities, were used to develop robust quantitative structure-retention relationship (QSRR) models. Two linear models with only one variable, i.e. solvation entropy, were developed, which explain 95 and 94% of variances of the test set for dimethyl silicone and dimethyl silicone with 5% phenyl group columns, respectively. These models are extremely simple and easy to interpret, but they show higher errors compared with more robust models such as partial least square (PLS) and ridge regressions. For the third column (polyethylene glycol (PEG)), 24...

    Abstract
A recyclable optical nanosensor was developed by immobilizing L-tyrosine functionalized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the polyethylene terephthalate (PET) substrate for rapid determination of Pb2+ ions. At first, the L-tyrosine functionalized AgNPs were assessed in the solution phase; the response time was lower than 15 s, and a limit of detection lower than 9 nM was obtained in the dynamic range of 1–1000 nM. For fabrication of the optical assay kit, the design of experiment (DOE) was used to optimize the immobilization efficiency of the nanoparticles on PET films by studying AgNO3 concentration and pH as two crucial parameters. The assay kit in optimal conditions showed a sharp localized...
