    DG application has received increasing attention during recent years. The impact of DG on various aspects of distribution system operation, such as reliability and energy loss, depend highly on DG location in distribution feeder. Optimal DG placement is an important subject which has not been fully discussed yet.     This paper presents a reliability assessment algorithm for distribution systems using a Static Series Voltage Regulator (SSVR). Furthermore, this algorithm considers the effects of Distributed Generation (DG) units, alternative sources, system reconfiguration, load shedding and load adding on distribution system reliability indices. In this algorithm, load points are classified into 8 types and separated restoration times are considered for each class. Comparative studies are conducted to investigate the impacts of DG and alternative source unavailability on the distribution system reliability.     In this paper, we propose a new analytical model for stable throughput evaluation of wireless network coding. In this new approach we consider the arrival and departure rates in and from the wireless nodes, respectively, in steady state. Our analytical model is founded on a multi-class open queueing network. In this model, we include two basic processes of network coding, i.e., packets combination and packets multicasting, in a suitable manner considering the constraints of the queueing networks.     This paper presents modeling of unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) in load flow calculations for steady-state voltage compensation. An accurate model for this device is derived to use in load flow calculations. The rating of this device as well as direction of reactive power injection required to compensate voltage to the desired value (1 p.u.) is derived and discussed analytically and mathematically using phasor diagram method.     The authors propose a new analytical model based on BCMP closed queueing networks in order to evaluate the performance of IEEE 802.11 DCF MAC protocol when all nodes are in the transmission range of each other, that is, a single hop wireless ad hoc network. By the proposed model, some performance metrics such as saturation and non-saturation throughput, distributions of channel access delay and the number of packets in the MAC buffer are derived.     In this paper, we consider the network coding in networks with broadcast channels (called hypernetworks) as the first step for applying network coding to wireless networks. We first prove a Max-Flow Min-Cut theorem for such networks.     Abstract
    The IEEE 802.11 medium access control (MAC) protocol defines a contention-based distribution channel access mechanism that shares the wireless medium for mobile stations. In this paper, we present a novel backoff mechanism, which divides contention window range to the different level based on the history of channel status. Instead of doubling and resetting the CW, we change the CW range by taking into account last three channel states. We test the new scheme against legacy IEEE 802.11 with NS-2 network simulator. The simulation results have shown 30.77% improvement in packet delivery ratio and 31.76% in delay and 30.81% in throughput compared to the IEEE 802.11 DCF
