Multivariate curve resolution-particle swarm optimization: A high-throughput approach to exploit pure information from multi-component hyphenated chromatographic signals

    , Article Analytica Chimica Acta ; Volume 772 , 2013 , Pages 16-25 ; 00032670 (ISSN) Parastar, H ; Ebrahimi Najafabadi, H ; Jalali Heravi, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Multivariate curve resolution-particle swarm optimization (MCR-PSO) algorithm is proposed to exploit pure chromatographic and spectroscopic information from multi-component hyphenated chromatographic signals. This new MCR method is based on rotation of mathematically unique PCA solutions into the chemically meaningful MCR solutions. To obtain a proper rotation matrix, an objective function based on non-fulfillment of constraints is defined and is optimized using particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. Initial values of rotation matrix are calculated using local rank analysis and heuristic evolving latent projection (HELP) method. The ability of MCR-PSO in resolving the chromatographic...

    Abstract
Human Brain is one of the most wonderful and complex systems which is designed for ever; A huge complex network composed of neurons as tiny biological and chemical processors which are distributed and work together as a super parallel system to do control and vital activities of human body. Brain learning simulation and hardware implementation is one of the most interesting research areas in order to make artificial brain. One of the researches in this area is Active Learning Method in brief ALM. ALM is an adaptive recursive fuzzy learning algorithm based on brain functionality and specification which models a complex Multi Input Multi Output System as a fuzzy combination of Single Input...

Joint approximate diagonalization of eigenmatrices as a high-throughput approach for analysis of hyphenated and comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatographic data

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1524 , 2017 , Pages 188-201 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Zarghani, M ; Parastar, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The objective of the present work is development of joint approximate diagonalization of eigenmatrices (JADE) as a member of independent component analysis (ICA) family, for the analysis of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) and comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC × GC–MS) data to address incomplete separation problem occurred during the analysis of complex sample matrices. In this regard, simulated GC–MS and GC × GC–MS data sets with different number of components, different degree of overlap and noise were evaluated. In the case of simultaneous analysis of multiple samples, column-wise augmentation for GC–MS and column-wise super-augmentation...

    Abstract
The novel coronavirus pandemic has rapidly spread around the world since December 2019. Various techniques have been applied in identification of SARS-CoV-2 or COVID-19 infection including computed tomography imaging, whole genome sequencing, and molecular methods such as reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). This review article discusses the diagnostic methods currently being deployed for the SARS-CoV-2 identification including optical biosensors and point-of-care diagnostics that are on the horizon. These innovative technologies may provide a more accurate, sensitive and rapid diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 to manage the present novel coronavirus outbreak, and could be...

    Abstract
Local three-stranded DNA/RNA hybrid regions of genomes (R-loops) have been detected either by binding of a monoclonal antibody (DRIP assay) or by enzymatic recognition by RNaseH. Such a structure has been postulated for mouse and human telomeres, clearly suggested by the identification of the complementary RNA Telomeric repeat-containing RNA “TERRA”. However, the tremendous disparity in the information obtained with antibody-based technology drove us to investigate a new strategy. Based on the observation that DNA/RNA hybrids in a triplex complex genome co-purify with the double-stranded chromosomal DNA fraction, we developed a direct preparative approach from total protein-free cellular...
