    Minimum power Miller-compensated CMOS operational amplifiers

    Abstract
    A new approach for the design of two-stage Miller-compensated CMOS op amps is presented. The paper studies the basic relations between power consumption, unitygain bandwidth, the biasing region, technology parameters, and the external capacitive load. As a result, simple and efficient design guides are provided to achieve the minimum possible power consumption for the given specifications and for short-channel devices. It is shown that the conventional design procedures do not always result in minimum power op amps. The presented results are also verified by Spectre simulations

    In this paper, thermo mechanical finite element analysis of orthogonal machining process with a flexible tool is carried out to study the dynamic behaviour of the machining system and its stability against chatter vibration. By combining the simulation of chip formation in metal cutting with the dynamic phenomena leading to chatter development, the influence of various phenomena, including thermal effects resulting from friction and plastic deformations on the stability of the process are investigated.     Abstract
    The fast growth of battery-operated portable applications has compelled the static random access memory (SRAM) designers to consider sub-threshold operation as a viable choice to reduce the power consumption. To increase the hold, read and write static noise margin (SNM) in the sub-threshold regime many structures has been proposed adding extra transistors to the conventional 6T-cell.     Abstract
    This paper presents the design procedure of monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) high-power amplifiers (HPAs) as well as implementation of high-efficiency and compact-size HPAs in a 0.25-μm AlGaAs-InGaAs pHEMT technology. Presented design techniques used to extend bandwidth, improve efficiency, and reduce chip area of the HPAs are described in detail. The first HPA delivers 5 W of output power with 40% power-added efficiency (PAE) in the frequency band of 8.5-12.5 GHz, while providing 20 dB of small-signal gain.     Abstract
    This paper considers flocking to the virtual leader in network of agents with double-integrator. A locally linear algorithm is employed which guarantees exponential flocking to the virtual leader. A lower bound for flocking rate is calculated which is independent of the initial conditions. Simulations are provided to validate the result and it is shown that the calculated rate is not over bound the actual convergence rate. The effect of coefficients of algorithm is investigated and it is shown that the similar results can be inferred from the calculated formula for the convergence rate. Copyright

    Abstract
    High penetration of constant-power loads (CPL) in dc microgrids may cause a destabilizing effect on the system that can lead to severe voltage oscillations. This paper addresses stability problems of the CPLs and proposes a simple active damping technique to damp the oscillations caused by CPLs. The particle swarm optimization algorithm has been used to find the best values of the parameters of the proposed active damper to achieve maximum damping of the oscillations.     Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to study a two-dimensional steady convective flow of a micropolar fluid over a stretching sheet in the presence of radiation with constant temperature.     Abstract
    The recruitment pattern of trunk muscles is determined using a three-dimensional model of the spine with two joints and six symmetric pairs of muscles in which both equilibrium and stability requirements are satisfied. Model predictions are verified using Anybody Modeling System (AMS) and Abaqus. The model is used to test the hypothesis that antagonistic muscle activities are necessary for the spinal stability. The model with stability constraints predicts muscle activities greater than those predicted without stability consideration.     This paper presents a novel heuristic algorithm for solving economic dispatch (ED) problems, by employing iteration particle swarm optimization with time varying acceleration coefficients (IPSO-TVAC) method. Due to the effect of valve-points and prohibited operation zones (POZs) in the generating units' cost functions, ED problem is a non-linear and non-convex optimization problem.     In this paper, static behavior of nano/microm1irrors under Casimir force is studied. At the first, the equilibrium equation governing the statical behavior of nano/micromirrors is obtained. Then energy method is employed to investigate statical stability of nano/micromirrors equilibrium points and a useful equation is suggested for successful and stable design of nano/micromirrors under Casimir force.     An improved progressive preconditioning method for analyzing steady inviscid and laminar flows around fully wetted and sheet-cavitating hydrofoils is presented. The preconditioning matrix is adapted automatically from the pressure and/or velocity flow-field by a power-law relation. The cavitating calculations are based on a single fluid approach.     In this paper, we are concerned with the numerical approximation of stochastic differential equations with discontinuous/nondifferentiable drifts. We show that under one-sided Lipschitz and general growth conditions on the drift and global Lipschitz condition on the diffusion, a variant of the implicit Euler method known as the split-step backward Euler (SSBE) method converges with strong order of one half to the true solution.     The nonlinear equation of motion for pre-stretched EulerBernoulli beams is derived. The effect of pre-tension and pre-compression in EulerBernoulli beams is studied. It is shown that compressive strain affects the bending stiffness much more than tensile strain. Based on the derived equation, the dynamic model of bimorph piezo-actuated beams, which is accurate, yet simple, is then developed. Afterwards, the critical voltage, which makes the piezo-actuated microbeam unstable, is numerically investigated.     Abstract
    In this paper, we introduce a new cost function for SIR-Based uplink power control algorithms that takes into account transmission power level as well as target Signal-to-Interference Ratio (SIR) deviation. Existence of Nash equilibrium point, its uniqueness and the algorithm convergence are proved in the framework of so-called standard power control schemes. As shown through simulations, the proposed method results in significant transmit power reduction while achieving almost the same average SIR level.
