  7. Abstract:
  8. Soil and water pollution is one of the most common types of pollution in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The development of mines and the oil and petrochemical industry on one hand and the non-compliance with environmental requirements on the other hand have caused large amounts of hydrocarbon pollutants and heavy metals to enter the environment in recent decades. Petroleum materials and heavy metals leak into the surrounding environment during drilling and extraction in oil sites and mines or during land and sea transportation, despite the measures taken to control their pollution. The conducted studies show that human industrial activities are the only cause of environmental pollution with toxic and dangerous compounds through this category of pollutants. Among petroleum pollutants, we can mention crude oil, diesel, chlorinated solvents, benzene, toluene, and others. In Iran, due to its oil-rich nature and high consumption of petroleum products, soil contamination with petroleum products is one of the basic environmental problems. When these pollutants enter the soil, the flow in the unsaturated zone changes from two phases of air and water to three phases of pollutants and air and water, which causes changes in hydraulic conductivity and retention characteristics, etc. In this research, the development of a soil column with the ability to investigate multiphase flows and perform bioremediation studies for contaminated soils is presented. The ability to monitor the insoluble phase in the physical model for the first time, the development of a miniature tensiometer for physical model experiments, the development of a hydrophobic tensiometer to measure the relative pressure of the insoluble pollutant phase, the possibility of controlling the water load conditions by Marriott reservoirs have been developed. Saturated and unsaturated, the ability to perform different soil cleaning methods such as biological stimulation and biological inoculation and aeration separately and combined, checking different soil characteristics such as suction, moisture percentage, bacterial population, etc. with the least possible handling are the features of the device
