    2013
    Abstract
This study reports synthesis and characterization of polymeric [MoO2(Salen)] complexes that combine MoO2(acac)2 and polymeric ligands bearing N2O2 coordination sites, abbreviated herein as [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salen)}]n (6), [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salophen)}]n (7), and [piperazinCH2{MoO2(Salpn)}]n (8). The epoxidation of alkenes using tert-butyl hydroperoxide and oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides by urea hydrogen peroxide were enhanced with excellent selectivity under the catalytic influence of these coordination polymers. No relevant difference in activity was found due to change in the diamine in the Schiffs base ligands. The stability of polymeric catalysts was assessed by recycling a sample...

    Abstract
The glucose-based ligand, N-salicylidene-d-glucosamine (Sal-d-glsmN), was readily obtained by reaction of salicylaldehyde (Hsal) with the d-glucosamine hydrochloride. Ligand Sal-d-glsmN was found to be an efficient ligand in the palladium-catalyzed Suzuki and Heck C-C coupling reactions in aqueous medium under aerobic condition. It was found that the use of Sal-d-glsmN/Pd(OAc) 2 system as a catalyst, aryl halides undergo Suzuki and Heck cross-couplings, respectively, with arylboronic acids and olefins to give the desired products in moderate to excellent yields

Coupling of sterically hindered substrates could also be achieved in reasonable yields. The heterogeneous catalyst is stable, can be stored without precautions to exclude air or moisture, and can be easily recycled and reused

    Abstract
Gold-catalyzed cyclization of 1,5-diynes with ketones as reagents and solvent provides diversely substituted vinyl ethers under mild conditions. The regioselectivity of such gold-catalyzed cyclizations is usually controlled by the scaffold of the diyne. Herein, we report the first solvent-controlled switching of regioselectivity from a 6-endo-dig- to 5-endo-dig-cyclization in these transformations, providing fulvene derivatives. With respect to the functional-group tolerance, aryl fluorides, chlorides, bromides, and ethers are tolerated. Furthermore, the mechanism and selectivity are put to scrutiny by experimental studies and a thermodynamic analysis of the product. Additionally,...

Growth of tin oxide nanotubes by aerial carbothermal evaporation

    , Article Applied Physics A: Materials Science and Processing ; Volume 97, Issue 2 , 2009 , Pages 361-364 ; 09478396 (ISSN) Salehi, M ; Janfeshan, B ; Sadrnezhaad, Kh ; Sharif University of Technology
    2009
    Abstract
One-dimensional nanostructures of tin oxide nanotubes were fabricated by carbothermal evaporation at 900°C in air. The synthesized film was grown on Au-coated (100) Si substrate. Heterogeneous catalysis by Au/Sn droplets assisted the formation of the tin oxide nanotubes of less than 40 nm diameter at Sn vapor pressures around 1.4×10 -7 Pa. In order to reduce the nanotube diameter further, an increase in the Sn vapor pressure by changing the source materials' ratio seemed viable. © 2009 Springer-Verlag

    Abstract
A resin-bound 1,2,4-triazolium ionic tag has been used as support for the preparation of solid palladium nanoparticles (Pd(0)-POLI-TAG-Pd). Owing to the pincer-type architecture of the triazolium ligand, the stabilization of a high amount of palladium nanoparticles (16 wt %) has been possible. The catalytic system has been fully characterized and used in low amounts (i.e., 0.1 mol % palladium loading) in representative Heck-Mizoroki cross-coupling processes. A negligible release of the metal was demonstrated, and a high activity was obtained over more runs. Besides, the protocol has been optimized for the use of safe biomass-derived γ-valerolactone reaction medium

Iron oxide nanoparticles supported on mesoporous silica-type materials have been successfully utilized in the aqueous selective oxidation of alkenes under mild conditions using hydrogen peroxide as green oxidant. The supported catalyst could be easily recovered after completion of the reaction and reused several times without any loss in activity (no metal leaching observed during the reaction), constituting a facile and straightforward example of aqueous oxidation chemistry promoted by iron-based heterogeneous systems. Abstract
A highly efficient and simple synthesis of unsymmetrical thioureas is reported based on the reaction of readily synthesized dithiocarbamates with amines, without using any catalyst under solvent-free conditions. The short reaction time, high yields, and solvent-free conditions are advantages of this method. We did not observe the formation of any symmetric disubstituted thiourea, under these reaction conditions. © 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved
