    Transient stability as one of the power-angle stability parts is a phenomena which is threatening the security of power systems. Following the occurrence of a major disturbance such as a short circuit, each of the generators will be in risk of transient instability due to distance from the fault location. If a generator fails to maintain its stability with the network, it become out-of-step. Out-of-step caused rounding waste of generator rotor and zero average output power.     We consider the application of the Finite Element Method (FEM) for numerical pressure transient analysis under conditions where no reliable analytical solution is available. Pressure transient analysis is normally based on various analytical solutions of the linear one-dimensional diffusion equation under restrictive assumptions about the formation and its boundaries. For example, the formation is either assumed isotropic or a restrictive a priori assumption is made about its heterogeneity.     Transient rate decline curve analysis for constant pressure production is presented in this paper for a naturally fractured reservoir. This approach is based on exponential and constant bottom-hole pressure solution. Based on this method, when ln (flow rate) is plotted versus time, two straight lines are obtained which can be used for estimating different parameters of a naturally fractured reservoir. Parameters such as storage capacity ratio (ω), reservoir drainage area (A), reservoir shape factor (CA), fracture permeability (kf), interporosity flow parameter (λ) and the other parameters can be determined by this approach.     Abstract
    This paper presents an analysis of the effects and propagation of faults in the open-core 32-bit OpenRISC 1200 microprocessor. The analysis is based on a total of 13,000 transient faults injected into 65 parts of the CPU module in the OpenRISC 1200 core described at the RTL model. A comparison of the effects of faults on the various parts of the CPU including the pipeline's registers, the CPU component such as the register file, the control unit, and the ALU, and the data and address buses is done. It is shown that about 30%, 40% and 27% of injected faults terminated in address, data, and control errors respectively. About 28% of all injected faults resulted in failures. © 2008 IEEE

    Interpretation of temperature logs has been done successfully in wells to identify water or gas entries location, detect casing leaks, and evaluate cement placement. This paper shows how knowledge of the Joule-Thomson cooling effect and frictional heating effect can be applied for well test interpretation. Many analysts rely on pressure derivative curve to diagnose wellbore storage period and radial flow regime on pressure transient data.     This paper presents comparison among methods of determination of the characteristic polynomial coefficients. First, the resultant systems from the methods are compared based on frequency criteria such as the closed loop bandwidth, gain and phase margins. Then the step responses of the resultant systems are compared on the basis of the transient behavior criteria including overshoot, rise time, settling time and error (via IAE, ITAE, ISE and ITSE integral indices).     Advanced static VAR compensators (ASVCs) are used to improve the transient stability of electric power systems. In this paper we present a new control strategy, which has superior performances compared to the conventional control techniques for these systems. The proposed method utilizes a novel current reference based on the transient energy function (TEF) approach.     Aging response of transient liquid phase Nb bearing wrought IN718 nickel base superalloy is studied. The aging behaviour of the joint is influenced by low Nb+Al+Ti content of isothermal solidification zone (ISZ) and formation of Nb-Cr-Mo based boride precipitates in diffusion affected zone (DAZ). It was shown that applying a post-bond heat treatment which was able to eliminate the diffusion induced boride precipitates in DAZ and increase the Nb+Al+Ti content of the ISZ improved the aging response and shear strength of the joint

    This study introduces a novel identification method for recognition of nuclear power plants (NPPs) transients by combining the autoregressive integrated moving-average (ARIMA) model and the neural network with error back-propagation (EBP) learning algorithm. The proposed method consists of three steps. First, an EBP based identifier is adopted to distinguish the plant normal states from the faulty ones.     Abstract This paper proposes a bumpless transfer method to overcome the problem of switching jumps in a scheduled robust model predictive control approach. A scheduled robust model predictive controller implements a set of local robust model predictive controllers based on an on-line switching strategy. This method could enlarge the domain of attraction efficiently but the transient response might be hampered by spikes appearing at the moment of switching between adjacent local controllers.
