    Abstract
    Identification of different flow regimes in industrial systems operating under two-phase flow conditions is necessary in order to safely design and optimize their performance. In the present work, experiments on two-phase flow have been performed in a large scale test facility with the length of 6 m and diameter of 5 cm. Four main flow regimes have been observed in vertical air-water two-phase flow at moderate superficial velocities of gas and water namely: Bubbly, Slug, Churn, and Annular.     Effects of microstructure and texture, before and after phase transformation, on the anisotropy of the mechanical properties and fracture behaviors of commercially pure titanium were studied. Before phase transformation, due to the split distribution of basal texture the activation of different deformation systems led to mechanical properties anisotropy. Although the fracture mechanism in both specimens was voids nucleation, growth and coalescence, the shape, size and distribution of dimples were affected by active deformation systems.     The effect of high-energy ball milling on the textural evolution of alumina nanopowders (compaction response, sinter-ability, grain growth and the degree of agglomeration) during post sintering process is studied. The applied pressure required for the breakage of the agglomerates (P y) during milling was estimated and the key elements of compressibility (i.e. critical pressure (P cr) and compressibility (b)) were calculated. Based on the results, the fracture point of the agglomerates decreased from 150 to 75 MPa with prolonged milling time from 3 to 60 min.     Abstract
    In this study Al2O3-SiC micro/nanocomposites have been fabricated by mixing alumina nanopowders and silicon carbide micro/nanopowders, followed by hot pressing at 1550, 1600, 1650 and 1700°C. The density, mechanical properties and fracture mode of Al2O3-SiC composites containing different volume fractions (2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, 10% and 15%) of micro/nanoscale SiC particles were investigated and compared with those of alumina. The relative density of composites could reach values very close to theoretical density, especially after sintering at 1700°C. In this work, we study the crystallographic texture of electrodeposited nickel-silicon carbide coatings.     In the present work tensile and tear properties of commercially pure titanium with different rolling reductions and specimens directions were investigated. The experimental results showed that in low levels of deformation the microstructure refining and mechanical twins have fewer significant effects on the anisotropic behavior of both tear and tensile properties and the crystallographic texture controls the mechanical properties anisotropy.     In this paper we propose a method for CBIR based on the combination of texture, edge map and color. As texture of edges yields important information about the images, we utilized an adaptive edge detector that produces a binary edge image. Also, using the statistics of color in two different color spaces provides complementary information to retrieve images. Our method is time efficient since we have applied texture calculations on the binary edge image.     In this paper, Ti-6Al-4V/TiC composite was fabricated by VIM furnace and graphite crucible. X-ray diffraction analysis and EDS techniques were used to identify the phases in the material. Microstructure characteristics of the Ti-6Al-4V/TiC composite were evaluated by means of optical microscopy. The tensile test was performed at room temperature after hot-rolling of the samples in the beta phase field.     The influence of annealing treatment on macro- and micro-texture of cold-rolled FeCo-7.15V ferro-magnetic ultra-thin foils were studied. The microstructural studies performed by field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM) showed the formation of paramagnetic precipitations ((Fe, Co)3V) during annealing.
