    Abstract
To evaluate the selectivity and efficiency of solid phase microextraction (SPME) fiber coatings, synthesized by sol-gel technology, roles of precursors and coating polymers were extensively investigated. An on-line combination of capillary microextraction (CME) technique and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was set up to perform the investigation. Ten different fiber coatings were synthesized in which five of them contained only the precursor and the rests were prepared using both the precursor and coating polymer. All the coatings were chemically bonded to the inner surface of copper tubes, intended to be used as the CME device and already functionalized by self-assembly...

    Abstract
A new type of composite material based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and sol-gel chemistry was prepared and used as sorbent for needle trap device (NTD). The synthesized composite was prepared in a way to disperse CNTs molecules in a sol-gel polymeric network. CNT/silica composites with different CNT doping levels were successfully prepared, and the extraction capability of each composite was evaluated. Effects of surfactant and the oxidation duration of CNTs on the extraction efficiency of synthesized composites were also investigated. The applicability of the synthesized sorbent was examined by developing a method based on needle trap extraction (NTE) and gas chromatography mass spectrometry...

    Abstract
In this work, nanocrystalline Al6063 composite powder reinforced with nanometric oxide ceramic particles was synthesized via an in situ solid-gas reaction during high-energy mechanical alloying under a mixture of argon-oxygen atmosphere. The effect of oxygen volume fraction on the morphological evolution and microstructural changes during mechanical alloying was studied by various analytical techniques including optical and electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, laser particle size analysis, apparent density measurement, and microhardness test. The reactive mechanical alloying resulted in the formation of amorphous Al- and Al-Mg-Si-Fe oxides with a size range of 40-100. nm and volume...

    , Article Journal of Chromatography A ; Volume 1434 , 2016 , Pages 19-28 ; 00219673 (ISSN) Bagheri, H ; Rezvani, O ; Banihashemi, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2016
    Abstract
In the present work, a new micro-solid phase extraction (μ-SPE) sorbent as an extracting medium based on core-shell nanofibers was synthesized by electrospinning. The core-shell nanofibers of polyvinylpyrrolidone-Polybutylene terephthalate/polypyrrole (PVP-PBT/PPy) were electrospun and subsequently, modified hollow nanofibers were prepared by removing the central PVP moiety. Moreover, conventional PBT/PPy was also prepared for the comparison purposes. The homogeneity and the porous surface structure of the core-shell nanofibers were confirmed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The applicability of the fabricated nanofibers-coating was examined by immersed μ-SPE of some selected triazine...

Generic extraction medium: From highly polar to non-polar simultaneous determination

    , Article Analytica Chimica Acta ; Volume 1066 , 2019 , Pages 1-12 ; 00032670 (ISSN) Zeinali, S ; Khalilzadeh, M ; Bagheri, H ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2019
    Abstract
Sample preparation for non-target analysis is challenging due to the difficulty in the extraction of polar and non-polar analytes simultaneously. Most commercial solid sorbents lack the proper comprehensiveness for extraction of analytes with different physiochemical properties. A possible key is the combination of hydrophobic polymer and hydrophilic surface functional groups in solid based extraction methods in order to generate the susceptibility for retaining both polar and non-polar analytes. To pursue this goal, in this study, four polar groups including [sbnd]NH 2 , [sbnd]NO 2 , [sbnd]COOH, and [sbnd]COCH 3 were chemically bound to Amberlite XAD-4 substrate in order to prepare a...

    Abstract
In this research, UiO-66 and its composite nanoparticles with thermally oxidized nanodiamond (OND) were synthesized via a simple solvothermal method and utilized as solid adsorbent for the removal of anionic methyl red (MR) dye and cationic malachite green (MG) dye from contaminated water. The synthesized adsorbents were analyzed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), N2 adsorption–desorption, and zeta potential analyzer. The influences of various factors such as initial concentrations of the dyes, adsorption process time, solution pH, solution temperature and ionic...

    Abstract
In this survey, a reliable and applicable Y–Y shaped micro–channel in a microfluidic device was designed and manufactured. A number of micro–scaled hedges were precisely fabricated inside the micro–channel to facilitate the immobilization of synthesized core–shell Fe3O4@SiO2 magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), functionalized by triethoxyphenylsilane (TEPS) by sol-gel technique. Both sample and reagents were introduced into the microfluidic device by a syringe pump to perform the extraction and desorption steps. The functionalized MNPs were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. By adopting the strategy of...

    Abstract
The treatment of water contaminated by bacteria is becoming a necessity. The nanomaterials possessing both intrinsic antibacterial properties and photocatalytic activity are excellent candidates for water disinfection. The powdered form of nanomaterials can be aggregated while embedding the nanomaterials into the NFs can overcome the limitation and enhance the photocatalytic activity and transition from UV-light to visiblelight. Here, graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized, grafted to chitosan, and decorated with silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) to produce Ag-decorated reduced GO-graft-Chitosan (AGC) NPs. The blends of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) and AGC NPs were prepared in various concentrations of...

    Abstract
An efficient one-pot, three-component synthesis of novel dispiro[oxindole-3,3′-pyrrolidines] by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides, in situ generated by reaction of 1,2-diones with sarcosine and subsequent decarboxylation, with a series of (E)-3-benzylidene-2,3-dihydro- 1H-indol-2-ones is reported. Molecular complexity is generated in only one synthetic step. All reactions proceed with excellent regioselectivity and in good-to-excellent yields. The workup is easy, the reaction times are short, and no catalyst is required. © 2013 Verlag Helvetica Chimica Acta AG, Zürich
