    Abstract
    The degradation of methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) was investigated in the aqueous solution of coated ZnO onto magnetite nanoparticale based on an advanced photocatalytic oxidation process. The photocatalysts were synthesized by coating of ZnO onto magnetite using precipitation method. The sample was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and vibration sample magnetometer (VSM). Besides, specific surface area was also determined by BET method.     Abstract
    In this paper, the effect of molybdenum on the grain boundary segregation of other elements was studied in Incoloy 901 superalloy. Initially, five alloys were prepared with different percentages of Mo by using a vacuum induction furnace. Then, these alloys were remelted by Electro-slag remelting (ESR) process and after homogenizing at 1160 °C for 2. h followed by air cooling, were rolled. The effect of Mo on segregation of elements was evaluated with Scanning Electron Microscopy, Linear Analysis, and the mechanical tests.     Abstract
    Highly porous nanocrystalline alumina was synthesized using two different precipitation processes and precipitating agents, which were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and porosimetry analyses. Different precipitating agents yielded nanocrystalline alumina catalysts with different morphologies and textural properties. Batch precipitation using sodium bicarbonate at constant pH resulted in a highly porous nanocrystalline γ-alumina catalyst, having surface area of 351.47 m2 g-1, total pore volume of 1.68 cm3 g -1 and mean pore diameter of 19.17 nm.     Present research represents the application of artificial neural networks to predict the chemical composition of electrodeposited Ni-Mo thin films. Artificial neural networks commonly are utilized as a prediction tools so that these networks could approximately find kind of logic relationships between inputs and target; they fitted appropriate coefficient and weighting factors to the inputs which are proportional to their importance.     Thin films of titanium dioxide with high surface area are prepared by sol-gel dip-coating technique. In this regards, Titania nano sols with high photocatalytic activity were prepared by dissolving titanium alkoxide in alcohol and water under acidic conditions. Photocatalytic activities of titanium dioxide thin films were measured in the presence of methylene blue.     Platinum nanowires (PtNWs) were electrodeposited on the polycarbonate templates (PCTs) in aqueous solution of H2PtCl6 in triply distilled water. Nanowires with diameters of 50 and 100 nanometers were electrodeposited on the same condition. The kinetics of electrodeposition process was studied by electrochemical techniques such as voltammetry and chronoamperometry methods.     A two-step pack cementation technique was used to cover nickel-based IN-738LC superalloy with a Cr-aluminide coating layer. The IN-738LC/Cr-aluminide samples were oxidized at 900 °C for 350 and 700 h, isothermally, and 175 and 350 h, cyclically. Each cycle lasted for 25 h. Effects of the isothermal and the cyclic oxidation on (a) morphology, (b) new-phase formation, (c) weight gain, and (d) oxidation reactions were investigated by scanning electron microscopy, electron dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and weight gain measurements.     The compounds α-lead oxide (α-PbO) and β-lead oxide (β-PbO) were purchased from Merck co. and used for thermal investigations in laboratory. The compound was heated in a thermogravimeter at different temperature, from 25 to 400 °C. The used gas atmosphere was O2. The received products were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique. The received product Pb3O4 was confirmed by XRD.     Modified tungsten oxide films by vanadium oxide provide neutrally coloring electrochromic electrodes for smart windows technology. In this study W-V-O mixed oxide films were fabricated by Nd:YAG pulsed laser deposition (PLD), λ=1064 nm, from mixed pressed powders of (WO3)1-x(V2O5)x, x=0, 0.09, 0.17, 0.23, 0.29 and 0.33, at 13.3 Pa oxygen partial pressure and 200 °C temperature on glass substrates. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) revealed V5+, V4+, W6+ and W5+ surface oxide states, where the ratio of W5+/W6+ enhances by the amount of vanadium in the films.     The effect of compositional change on glass-ceramic formation and its electrical properties were studied. The composition was formulated with 40 wt.% of borosilicate glass, 60 wt.% of titanate and 10 wt.% of alkaline oxide.     Redistribution of alloying elements in the transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding zone of IN738LC/ BNi-3/IN738LC was studied to investigate microstructural evolution in this area. Wavelength dispersive spectrometry and electron probe microanalysis revealed that, during non-isothermal solidification in the TLP bonding zone, enrichment of residual liquid phase with the positive segregating elements caused formation of intermetallic in the bonding zone.     The hydroxyapatite coating on metal implants is a suitable method to create a bioactive surface and to increase the bone-implant bonding strength. In this research, at first the titanium surface was treated with NaOH solutions ; 5N and 10N at 60°C for 24 h and 5N at 60°C for 24 h followed by heating at 600°C for 1 h. The samples were immersed in the simulated body fluid (SBF) for 28 days to generate a calcium phosphate coating on titanium substrates.     Porous silicon samples were obtained by the electrochemical method and were impregnated with Pd by the electroless process. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy illustrated that the surface of the samples is oxidized during the palladium deposition. Scanning electron microscopy showed how factors such as morphology and pre-oxidations of porous samples and the plating parameters including Pd-salt concentration, HCl concentration, temperature of the electroless solution and the time of process affect the growth and nucleation of Pd particles.     Thermal stability of Ag layer on Ti coated Si substrate for different thicknesses of the Ag layer have been studied. To do this, after sputter-deposition of a 10 nm Ti buffer layer on the Si(1 0 0) substrate, an Ag layer with different thicknesses (150-5 nm) was sputtered on the buffer layer. Post annealing process of the samples was performed in an N 2 ambient at a flow rate of 200 ml/min in a temperature range from 500 to 700 °C for 30 min.     Abstract
    One of the methods to increase the hardness of metals, mostly used in aerospace and automobile industries, where light parts with high strength is needed, is precipitation hardening. Nano-precipitates can strongly influence the mechanical properties of materials, especially in a dynamic case. In the present work, attempts have been made so as to make Nano-particles dynamically precipitate in IF steels. Investigating the structure by the means of SEM and AFM resulted in understanding that the precipitates were in nano-size.     An optical study of cobalt nanowires dispersed in liquid phase

    Abstract
    The Co nanowires were electrodeposited in polycarbonate membrane (PCT). SEM, TEM and XPS techniques were used to characterize the morphology, structure and size of nanowires as well as chemical composition. The influence of different mediums was studied on the optical absorption of dispersed cobalt nanowires. The absorption spectrum of cobalt nanowires in water showed a broad shoulder at 290 nm, but in ethanol solution it was not observed in the visible region of the spectra up to 200 nm.     A nickel base superalloy Rene 80 was bonded in the as received cast condition using transient liquid phase diffusion bonding with a Ni-base interlayer. The bonding process was carried out at 1100 °C under argon and vacuum atmospheres for various hold times. The bonds then homogenized at 1206 °C for 1 and 2 h. Microstructures of bonds were studied with optical and scanning electron microscopy. Microstructure studies showed intermetallic compounds within the joint region.     Tetragonal Gd 1-x Pr x BaSrCu 3O 7-δ (GdPr1113) polycrystalline high-temperature superconducting ceramic samples have been synthesized by the standard solid-state reaction process with different calcination and sintering temperatures and characterized by XRD and SEM. The optimum synthesis temperatures for obtaining single phase varied with Pr doping. Higher temperatures were necessary to obtain single phase for x ≥ 0.3. It was found that higher synthesis temperatures improved the electrical characteristics of these materials. In this study, yttrium iron garnet (Y3Fe5O12) nanocrystalline powders were prepared by a sol-gel auto-combustion process.
