    Abstract
The biodegradability and mechanical properties of polysaccharides are dependent on their architecture (linear or branched) as well as their crystallinity (size of crystals and crystallinity percent). The amount of crystalline zones in the polysaccharide significantly governs their ultimate properties and applications (from packaging to biomedicine). Although synthesis, characterization, and properties of polysaccharides have been the subject of several review papers, the effects of crystallization kinetics and crystalline domains on the properties and application have not been comprehensively addressed. This review places focus on different aspects of crystallization of polysaccharides as...

Inventory Ordering System with Fuzzy Parameters in Supply Chain

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Nasiri, Mohsen (Author) ; Hajji, Rasool (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Inventory control has been always considered important due to its prominent role in managing and better application of resources in the field of operational systems. Ordering system or review stock policy in supply chain management can be mentioned as one of the inventory control study fields of management. A lot of researches have been done in investigating ordering system in supply chain under certainty conditions; however, since the real world is full of uncertainties, parameters such as demand cannot be predicted exactly and we encounter with ambiguity. In this case, using crisp (exact) values can cause to decide wrongly (a wrong decision). On the other hand, due to absence of sufficient...

Analysing Purchase Satisfaction Using Opinion Mining

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Derakhshan, Ali (Author) ; Beigy, Hamid (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Opinions and experiences of others give us valuable information in making decisions. Recently, with the expansion of using social networks and websites, people can easily share their opinions about miscellaneous things. This huge amount of information cannot be analyzed by individuals, so a system that automatically analyzes opinions is needed. This need invokes new field of research that is called opinion mining. User’s viewpoints could change during the time, and this is an important issue for companies. One of the most challenging sub-problems of opinion mining is model-based opinion mining, which aims to model the generation of words by modeling their probabilities. In this thesis, we...

Hierarchical Classification of Mobile App Reviews

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mazraeh Khatiri, Sajad (Author) ; Heydarnoori, Abbas (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Mobile application marketplaces are not only a distribution platform but also a place for users to give feedback on their experience with application. User reviews contain useful information for software evolution tasks including bug reports, user experience, and feature requests. Considering the massive number of reviews that popular apps receive every day, manual inspection of reviews is not feasible in many cases. Researchers have developed automated tools to classify reviews into fixed and general-purpose categories related to software evolution in order to assist developers. Although this classification can reduce the time and effort for mobile developers, it does not consider the...

Classifying Users’ Reviews to Respond in App Stores

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Majidi, Forough (Author) ; Heydarnoori, Abbas (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In recent years, the number of applications in app stores such as Google Play has increased dramatically. In Google Play, people can write a review and give a rate to each application. Each review contains a lot of notable information such as ‘feature request’ which helps with software maintenance. Also, the user rate is a sign of user satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Users can change their reviews and rate anytime they want. The previous studies show that total rating affects the success of apps and the total number of downloads. They also found that a lot of users take the rating as one of the important factors while downloading the app and they usually don’t download the apps which have...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mosaddegh, Pooya (Author) ; Fazli, Mohammad Amin (Supervisor) ; Ghodsi, Mohammad (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Strategic Network Formation defines how and why networks take particular forms. In many networks, the relation between nodes is determined by the choice of the participating players involved, not by an arbitrary rule. A "strategic2 modeling of network requires defining a network’s costs and benefits and predicts how individual preferences become outcomes. In strategic network formation it is important to look at the overall social benefit and to see if networks that players create manage to be efficient for the society in general. The code review process also referred to as peer review, stands out as a tried and tested method in a large palette of applications to allow...

Deriving the Cost Function and Optimal Boundaries for a Two-level Inventory System with Information Sharing and Identical Retailers

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Afshar Sedigh, Amir Hosein (Author) ; Haji, Rasoul (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this study we consider a two-level supply chain, with a supplier and a number of identical retailers, demand process is Poisson with random rate. All retailers apply (R,Q) policy with backorder case for their inventory control supplier fulfills the orders of retailers according to FIFO discipline. At any point of time the supplier has online information about inventory position of all retailers.
Whenever the inventory position of a retailer reaches to a fixed value (s) above its reorder point, the supplier orders a batch of size Q to an outside source with infinite capacity. Lead-time of each retailer is equal to the sum of a constant transportation time and a delay time which is...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Shateri, Pedram (Author) ; Habibi, Jafar (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Manual code review, essential for software quality, suffers from time constraints and repetitive tasks. This thesis investigates using large language models (LLMs) with prompt engineering and in-context learning to automate aspects of the process. By leveraging an LLM's generalization capabilities, we aim to achieve automation with limited resources and minimal pre-training. Due to the development of large language models and in-context learning capabilities, our proposed approach is to add contextual information relevant to code review to the model input. Our approach focuses on providing context-specific samples and documents related to the reviewed code, enabling the LLM to learn from the...

On competence of vendor managed inventory in supply chains using basic mathematical inventory models

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Vol. 21, issue. 3 , 2014 , p. 1061-1071 Jasemi, M ; Haji, A ; Gharibi, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
In this study, a two-echelon single-vendor supply chain is selected to do a cost-based comparison between short-term performances of a Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) and a Retailer Managed Inventory (RMI). While the inventory costs include ordering and storing expenses, the rate of consumption and the price of goods are constant, the rate of production and pace of transportation are infinite and shortage is not allowed. This paper, after a comprehensive literature review, is followed by three cases of single retailer, n-retailer and two-retailer chains. Unlike the second case, in the first case, VMI shows an absolute superiority to RMI, and this is the reason for devising the third case in...

A comprehensive formulation for railroad blocking problem

    , Article Proceedings - 27th European Conference on Modelling and Simulation, ECMS 2013 ; May , 2013 , Pages 758-763 Hasany, R. M ; Shafahi, Y ; Kazemi, S. F ; Sharif University of Technology
European Council for Modelling and Simulation  2013
    Abstract
In rail transportation, there have been several attempts to determine the best routes for shipments (a number of cars with the same origin-destination) through the network. Shipments enter into several intermediate yards on their routes to separate and regroup shipments into new trains. Most of time, every entering into a yard includes excessive delay for shipments; therefore it is an ideal plan that each shipment has been transported by an exclusive train service. Mainly because of restriction on a number of running trains, this plan cannot be adapted in most cases. Finding the optimal route over the rail network with above and other common constraints would be handled by railroad blocking...

A queueing system with inventory and mixed exponentially distributed lead times

    , Article International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology ; Volume 53, Issue 9-12 , August , 2011 , Pages 1231-1237 ; 02683768 (ISSN) Saffari, M ; Haji, R ; Hassanzadeh, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    2011
    Abstract
We consider M/M/1/∞ systems with inventory in which completing each service in the queueing system requires an on-hand inventory. Continuous review (r, Q) policy is considered for the inventory system, and lead times are assumed to be mixed exponentially distributed. During stockout, arriving demands get rejected from the queue and become lost (lost sale situation). We derive stationary distribution of product form of joint queue length and on-hand inventory. The resulting distribution is employed to compute performance measures which can be used to derive the optimal policy. Optimal order size for predetermined reorder policy is initially determined and finally, optimal reorder point and...
