    Abstract
    Networks-on-Chip (NoCs for short) are known as the most scalable and reliable on-chip communication architectures for multi-core SoCs with tens to hundreds IP cores. Proper mapping the IP cores on NoC tiles (or assigning threads to cores in chip multiprocessors) can reduce end-to-end delay and energy consumption. While almost all previous works on mapping consider higher priority for the application's flows with higher required bandwidth, a mapping strategy, presented in this paper, is introduced that considers multicast communication flows in addition to the normal unicast flows.     Abstract
    Temporal relation classification is one of the contemporary demanding tasks in natural language processing. This task can be used in various applications such as question answering, summarization, and language specific information retrieval. In this paper, we propose an improved algorithm for classifying temporal relations between events and times, using support vector machines (SVM). Along with gold-standard corpus features, the proposed method aims at exploiting useful syntactic features, which are automatically generated, to improve accuracy of the classification.     Abstract
    The Hough transform is known to be an effective technique for target detection and track initiation in search radars. However, most papers have focused on the simplistic applications of this technique which consider a 2-D data space for the Hough transform. In this paper, a new method based on xthe Hough transform is introduced for detecting targets in a 3-D data space. The data space is constructed from returned surveillance radar signal using the range and bearing information of several successive scans.     Abstract
    In this study, the effect of deploying microtabs on performance improvement of a horizontal axis wind turbine blade is numerically investigated in three-dimensions. The NREL Phase VI, a stall-regulated upwind wind turbine, is used as the baseline case. Different cases are considered to investigate the effects of spanwise location as well as the height variation of tabs along the blade span, on the flow over the rotor blade. In all cases, the tab is located at 95% chord of the airfoil section on the lower surface of the blade. Results reveal that locating microtabs at the outboard part of the blade has a greater impact on the rotor performance than the inboard part. However, both cases...

    Abstract
    Heat source addition to the axisymmetric supersonic inlet may improve the performance parameters, which will increase the inlet efficiency. In this investigation the heat has been added to the flow field at some distance ahead of an axisymmetric inlet by adding an imaginary thermal source upstream of cowl lip. The effect of heat addition on the drag coefficient, mass flow rate and the overall efficiency of the inlet have been investigated. The results show that heat addition causes flow separation, hence to prevent this phenomena, roughness has been added on the spike surface.     The use of cooperative schemes in wireless networks has recently attracted much attention in scenarios where application of multipleantenna systems is impractical. In such scenarios, the requirement of having full channel state information (CSI) at the receiver side can be relaxed by using differential distributed (DD) transmission schemes. However, in the DD schemes proposed so far, the decoding complexity as well as the delay requirements increase with the number of relays. One technique is to introduce an air film along the bottom of the hull to reduce skin friction drag.     Abstract
    In this paper, we analyze the performance of a wireless infrared system with code division multiple access (CDMA) technique using optical orthogonal codes (OOCs). Performance improvement is shown when power control is applied to the system. Noting the advantages of pulse position modulation (PPM), we have used chip-level binary PPM scheme. To mention some of these advantages we can name average required power reduction and BER improvement in comparison to on-off keying (OOK). The obtained results show that power control is a mandatory part of the design in a wireless infrared system using OOC. ©2007 IEEE

    Re-circulating cooling water systems offer the means to remove heat from a wide variety of industrial processes that generate excess heat. Such systems consist of a cooling tower and a heat-exchanger network that conventionally has a parallel configuration. However, reuse of water between different cooling duties allows cooling water networks to be designed in a series arrangement. This results in performance improvement and increased cooling tower capacity. In addition, by the integration of ozone treatment into the cooling tower, the cycle of concentration can be increased.
