    Abstract
    A new distributed observer-based output feedback control design with an arbitrary control structure is proposed. Assuming that the linear time-invariant (LTI) system does not have any fixed-modes with respect to the control structure, the pole placement at the desired locations becomes theoretically feasible. In this paper, the structural output feedback controller design is transformed into equivalent problems based on a graph-theoretic approach.     The present study investigated a counter-flow cooling tower performance by integrating the Artificial Neural Networks and Intelligent Optimisation Algorithms (ANN-IOAs). For this purpose, two scenarios were evaluated.     In this paper, optimization on a two-tube helical heat exchanger with a fin is represented. The spiral pipes heat exchanger which is made of the cooper is adopted for investigation. The effects of three types of fins with the proposed geometric shapes on the overall heat transfer coefficient and pressure loss are investigated. The fins are located on the inner surface of the outer pipe. The obtained numerical results are compared with the experimental results, and a good agreement is observed between the results.     A computational framework was developed to simulate the bone remodelling process as a structural topology optimisation problem. The mathematical formulation of the Level Set technique was extended and then implemented into a coronal plane model of the proximal femur to simulate the remodelling of internal structure and external geometry of bone into the optimal state.     Nanocrystalline zinc titanate (ZnTiO3) thin films and powders with purity of 94% were produced at the low sintering temperature of 500 °C and the short sintering time of 1 h by a straightforward aqueous particulate sol-gel route. The effect of Zn:Ti molar ratio was studied on the crystallisation behaviour of zinc titanates. The prepared sols showed a narrow particle size distribution in the range 17-19 nm. Titanium (IV) isopropoxide and zirconium (IV) acetate hydrate were used as precursors, and hydroxypropyl cellulose was used as a polymeric fugitive agent in order to increase the specific surface area.
