The hydrogel formation was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and thermogravimetrical analysis (TGA). The study of the surface morphology of the hydrogels using SEM and AFM showed a nanoporous (average pore size: 180. nm) structure for the sample...

Effect of a monomeric sequence on the structure of hydrated Nafion in the sandwich model and solvent dynamics in nano-channels: A molecular dynamic study

    , Article Molecular Physics ; Volume 108, Issue 24 , 2010 , Pages 3393-3404 ; 00268976 (ISSN) Abroshan, H ; Akbarzadeh, H ; Taherkhani, F ; Parsafar, G ; Sharif University of Technology
    2010
    Abstract
Molecular dynamics simulations are performed to obtain insight into the structural properties of hydrated Nafion using the sandwich model of the polymer membrane. It is shown that a larger distance between the sulfonate groups of a chain leads to the polymer forming a better inverted micelles structure. Water- and hydronium-polymer interfaces are investigated. Comparing our results with others indicates that, from the perspective of distance, the formation of shells of water and hydronium ions is independent of the model and monomer type, but depends on both if the coordination number is considered. The behaviour of water molecules and hydronium ions is also studied dynamically. Our survey...

    Abstract
Chemical and electron beam irradiation methods were used to introduce a branched structure into polypropylene and propylene-ethylene copolymer. The chemical method was carried out in an internal mixer using initiator and TMPTMA monomer. In irradiation method, the polymer was irradiated by electron beam under air and nitrogen atmosphere. The branched structure in the modified polymer was confirmed by rheological measurements. While degradation was significant in chemical method, branching occurred efficiently by irradiation under air. Small amount of ethylene in the propylene copolymer promoted branching over degradation

    , Article Polymer Bulletin ; Volume 73, Issue 4 , 2016 , Pages 1085-1101 ; 01700839 (ISSN) Sadrani, S. A ; Ramazani, S. A. A ; Khorshidiyeh, S. E ; Jafari Esfad, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A new bi-supported Ziegler–Natta catalyst was prepared successfully by supporting TiCl4 on the carbon black (CB) and magnesium dichloride. Then, this catalyst was used to prepare ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) nanocomposites via in situ polymerization. The effects of difference molar ratios of triisobutylaluminum as activator to TiCl4, polymerization temperature, pressure of monomer and polymerization time on productivity of the catalyst were studied. The maximum activity was obtained at [Al]/[Ti] = 121:1. Increasing monomer pressure raised catalyst activity. Increasing temperature to 60 °C increased the polymerization yield; however, the higher temperature decreased the...

Polyethylene/clay nanocomposites (PECNC) were synthesized via in situ Ziegler-Natta catalyst polymerization. Activated catalyst for polymerization of ethylene monomer has been prepared at first by supporting of the cocatalyst on the montmorillonite (MMT) smectite type clay and then active complex for polymerization formed by reaction of TiCl4 and aluminum oxide compound on the clay. Acid wash treatment has been used for increasing hydroxyl group and porosity of the clay and subsequently activity of the catalyst. The nano- structure of composites was investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Obtained results show that silica layers of the mineral clay...

    Abstract
In this study, a new polymeric functionalized magnetic nanocatalyst containing a molybdenum Schiff base complex was prepared using a few consecutive steps. Poly (methylacrylate)-coated magnetic nanoparticles were synthesized via radical polymerization of methyl acrylate onto modified magnetic nanoparticles followed by the amidation of the methyl ester groups with hydrazine. Polymeric functionalization efficiently provides the advantage that more catalytic units can be grafted on the surface of magnetic nanoparticles. The functionalization process was continued with salicylaldehyde which introduced Schiff base groups on to the surface of the polymeric support. In the final step, the desired...

    Abstract
For the first time, the UIO-66, NH2-UIO, and NH2-UIO particles covalently functionalized by Glycidyl Methacrylate (GMA@NH2-UIO), were utilized as the novel functional anti-corrosive fillers. The smart pH-sensitive controlled-release activity of the corrosion inhibitors (i.e., Zr ions and organic compounds) from the prepared Zr-MOFs was proved by the water stability test of the Zr-MOFs particles in the acidic (pH = 2), neutral (pH = 7.5), and alkaline (pH = 12) solutions containing 3.5...

    Abstract
Herein, a facile and versatile method for the synthesis of a novel magnetic nanocarrier via surface- initiated reversible addition-fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerization is introduced. At first, RAFT agent was successfully attached to the surface of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles and, then, poly (glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) chains were grown and anchored onto the surface of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles. At the end, hydrazine (Hy) groups were introduced to the PGMA chains via reaction between epoxy rings and hydrazine molecules. Doxorubicin (DOX) was covalently conjugated to the prepared nanocarrier (Fe 3 O 4 @PGMA@Hy) through a hydrazone linkage. The in vitro drug release of Fe 3 O 4...

    Abstract
This work focused on the design of new pH-responsive nanoparticles for controlled delivery of anticancer drug doxorubicin (Dox). Nanoparticles of poly(methacrylic acid)-polysorbate 80-grafted starch (PMAA-PS 80-g-St) were synthesized by using a one-pot method that enabled simultaneous grafting of PMAA and PS 80 onto starch and nanoparticle formation in an aqueous medium. The particles were characterized by FTIR, 1H NMR, TEM, DLS, and potentiometric titration. Dox loading and in vitro release from the nanoparticles were investigated. The FTIR and 1H NMR confirmed the chemical composition of the graft terpolymer. The nanoparticles were relatively spherical with narrow size distribution and...
