    In the present study, we developed a multi-component one-dimensional mathematical model for simulation and optimisation of a commercial catalytic slurry reactor for the direct synthesis of dimethyl ether (DME) from syngas and CO2, operating in a churn-turbulent regime. DME productivity and CO conversion were optimised by tuning operating conditions, such as superficial gas velocity, catalyst concentration, catalyst mass over molar gas flow rate (W/F), syngas composition, pressure and temperature.     Abstract
    This article presents a new model for pricing a new product considering a skimming pricing strategy in the presence of competition. We consider two periods for price setting, including skimming and an economy period. The problem is to decide on skimming as well as economy price, in order to maximize total profit. The derived model is a non-linear programming model and we have analyzed the structure and properties of an optimal solution to develop a solution method.     This study investigates optimal strategies for price, warranty length, and production rate of a new product in which both static markets for non-durable and dynamic markets for durable products are involved. The mathematical model incorporates both the demand and the cost functions including production, warranty length, and inventory costs. Using the maximum principle approach, the optimal strategies and interactions among price, warranty length, and production rate in both markets are analyzed using some propositions. We first propose a unified definition for both of sum-area and difference-area measures that can be used on a general path of n vertices.     Abstract
    The optimization of leaching parameters for the Ni recovery of the used catalyst was developed using response surface methodology. The relationship between the Ni recoveries, and four main leaching parameters, temperature, acid concentration, leaching time and particle size were presented as empirical model equations. The predicted values of nickel recoveries were found to be in a reasonable agreement with the experimental values, with R2 as correlation factor being 0.9669 and 0.9869 for sulfuric and nitric acids, respectively.     Standing-wave ultrasonic motors are a modern class of positioning systems, which are used to deliver a high precision linear or rotary motion with an unlimited stroke. The design process should be performed through an effective optimization algorithm in order to guaranty proper and efficient function of these motors.     Abstract
    We consider the design of an optimal natural-gas network. Our proposed network contains two echelons, Town Broad Stations (TBSs), and consumers (demand zones). Here, our aim is a two-stage cost minimization. We first determine locations of the TBS so that the location-allocation cost is minimized. Then, we show how to distribute the flow of gas among the TBS minimizing the flow cost by using Minimum Spanning Tree (MST). A case study in Mazandaran Gas Company in Iran is made to assess the validity and effectiveness of our proposed model
