    Abstract
    Multivariate curve resolutions (MCR) along with other chemometric techniques are proposed to improve the analysis of Iranian Elettaria cardamomum (E. cardamom) essential oil with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). In addition, multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares (MCR-ALS) is used to obtain pure elution and mass spectral profiles for the components present in each chromatographic segment as well as their relative concentrations. This strategy was also used to overcome the problems of baseline offset, asymmetric peaks, retention time shifts, and overlapped and embedded peaks occurring during GC-MS analysis.     Multivariate curve resolution-alternating least squares (MCR-ALS) as a second-order calibration algorithm was proposed for the simultaneous analysis of eighteen fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) in a standard mixture and pomegranate seed sample using vortex-assisted extraction-dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (VAE-DLLME), followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS).     The mononuclear complex [Mn(tptz)(CH3COO)(OH2)2]NO3 (1) was investigated by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry in aqueous solution at pH 4.5.     In this study, a fast and sensitive flow injection μ-solid phase extraction (FI-μ-SPE) technique based on an electrospun polyaniline (PANI) nanocomposite in conjunction with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was developed. The PANI-based nanocomposite was synthesized by electrospinning of a solution containing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA)/PANI. The majority of PVA template was subsequently removed from the whole PVA/PANI nanofibers blend by exposing the electrospun nanocomposite to hot water.     A superhydrophobic polystyrene hollow fiber was electrospun around a copper spring collector. This approach led to the construction of a hollow fiber membrane, and the copper spring acted as a scaffold. The characteristic properties of the hollow fiber were studied by scanning electron microscopy. The membrane was used as a probe to transfer the extracting solvent from aquatic media to a gas chromatograph.     Abstract
    The suppression of the individual Υ(nS) states in PbPb collisions with respect to their yields in pp data has been measured. The PbPb and pp data sets used in the analysis correspond to integrated luminosities of 150μb -1 and 230nb-1, respectively, collected in 2011 by the CMS experiment at the LHC, at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of 2.76TeV. The Υ(nS) yields are measured from the dimuon invariant mass spectra. The suppression of the Υ(nS) yields in PbPb relative to the yields in pp, scaled by the number of nucleon-nucleon collisions, RAA, is measured as a function of the collision centrality.     Abstract
    We investigated the response of a bacterial strain isolated from low grade complex zinc and lead sulfide mines to metals toxicity (i.e., zinc, manganese, nickel, cobalt, copper, arsenate, chromium, lead, and mercury). The bacterium was identified as a strain of Aciditiobacillus ferrooxidans. The isolate showed good resistance to most of the toxic metals. The proteomics approach was used to identify the differentially expressed proteins under heavy metal stress in this strain.     Abstract
    The Cu surface segregation is investigated in the electrodeposited Ni-Fe layers using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results indicate that Cu segregation and accumulation take place in areated and deareated baths and the amount of segregated copper increases after air exposure. This phenomenon is explained by lower interfacial tension of the Cu in comparison with Ni and Fe. Our results reveal more surface segregation in the electrodeposit than vacuum reported results.     We have investigated segregation of copper at the surface of V 2 O 5 films deposited onto Cu substrate by employing surface analysis techniques. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) confirmed that the Cu is segregated at the surface and its chemical state is Cu 2 O. According to secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) and glow discharge spectroscopy (GDS), the Cu concentration inside the deposited V 2 O 5 layer is low.     Abstract
    The Ξb-π+π- invariant mass spectrum is investigated with an event sample of proton-proton collisions at s=13 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC in 2016-2018 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 140 fb-1. The ground state Ξb- is reconstructed via its decays to J/ψΞ- and J/ψΛK-. A narrow resonance, labeled Ξb(6100)-, is observed at a Ξb-π+π- invariant mass of 6100.3±0.2(stat)±0.1(syst)±0.6(Ξb-) MeV, where the last uncertainty reflects the precision of the Ξb- baryon mass. The upper limit on the Ξb(6100)- natural width is determined to be 1.9 MeV at 95% confidence level. The low Ξb(6100)- signal yield observed in data does not allow a measurement of the quantum numbers...

    Abstract
    An immersed solvent microextraction (SME) method was successfully developed for the trace enrichment of aryloxyphenoxypropionate herbicides from aquatic media. A microdrop of toluene was used as the extraction solvent. Some important extraction parameters such as type of solvent, solvent dropsize, stirring rate, ionic strength and extraction time were investigated and optimized. The microdrop volume of 1.5 μL, a sampling time of 25 min, and use of toluene were major parameters for achieving high enrichment factors. The linearity was studied by preconcentration of 4 mL of the water samples spiked with a standard solution of aryloxyphenoxypropionates at the concentration range of 0.15 to 30 ng...

    Abstract
    A combination of peak alignment methods and multivariate curve resolution (MCR) is proposed for handling retention time shifts and modeling of comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatographic (GC × GC) data in the case of univariate detection systems such as in flame ionization detection (FID) or in total ion current mass spectrometry (TIC-MS) detection. A new bilinear peak alignment (BPA) method, based on MCR, is first proposed to correct for progressive within run retention time shifts in GC × GC due to temperature programming effects on second chromatographic dimension.     Abstract
    A novel method based on microextraction in packed syringe (MEPS), as a sample preparation technique in combination with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was developed using a polypyrrole (PPy) nanowires network as the extracting medium. The PPy nanowires network was prepared using a soft template technique and its characterization was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The use of micelles in this methodology has an important role in the shape of the growing polymer. The pyrrole monomer was introduced into cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) micelles and this has led to the formation of nanowires with diameters ranging from 30 to 60 nm.
