A low power, low phase noise, square wave LC quadrature VCO and its comprehensive analysis for ISM band

    , Article AEU - International Journal of Electronics and Communications ; Volume 65, Issue 5 , 2011 , Pages 458-467 ; 14348411 (ISSN) Atarodi, M ; Torkzadeh, P ; Behmanesh, B ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
This paper presents a phase-noise reduction technique for voltage-controlled oscillators (VCOs) using a harmonic tuned (HT) LC tank. The phase-noise suppression is achieved through almost rectangular-shaped VCO oscillating signal which effectively maximizes oscillating signal slope at zero crossing points resulting in-phase-noise degradation. In addition, by shortening down converted noise power around oscillating signal second harmonic, more phase-noise suppression has been achieved. A comprehensive analysis for frequency and amplitude deviations as high as 20% for third harmonic and its effect on output phase-noise suppression has been discussed. In the followings, a comprehensive analysis...

Non-linear analysis of functionally graded circular plates under asymmetric transverse loading

    , Article International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics ; Volume 44, Issue 8 , 2009 , Pages 928-942 ; 00207462 (ISSN) Nosier, A ; Fallah, F ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Based on the first-order shear deformation plate theory with von Karman non-linearity, the non-linear axisymmetric and asymmetric behavior of functionally graded circular plates under transverse mechanical loading are investigated. Introducing a stress function and a potential function, the governing equations are uncoupled to form equations describing the interior and edge-zone problems of FG plates. This uncoupling is then used to conveniently present an analytical solution for the non-linear asymmetric deformation of an FG circular plate. A perturbation technique, in conjunction with Fourier series method to model the problem asymmetries, is used to obtain the solution for various clamped...

    Abstract
A novel plane-wave-based approach for analytical treatment of dispersive relation is developed and applied to analyze the behavior of electromagnetic waves in plasmonic-photonic-crystal slabs. Here Drude model is used for describing frequency dependent permittivity of plasma rods in host dielectric medium. In the present work, dispersion relation below and above the light line is calculated approximately by means of Maxwell-Garnett effective medium and Revised Plane Wave Method (RPWM). The eigen-functions are then used in Revised Guided Mode Expansion (RGME) as the set of orthonormal bases. Following this procedure, the accurate band structure is obtained. In these kind of methods there are...

    Abstract
Purpose - The purpose of this paper is to examine the cross-coupled responses of a coupled rotor-fuselage flight dynamic simulation model, including a finite-state inflow aerodynamics and a coupled flap-lag and torsion flexible blade structure. Design/methodology/approach - The methodology is laid out based on model development for an articulated main rotor, using the theories of aeroelastisity, finite element and finite-state inflow formulation. The finite-state inflow formulation is based on a 3D unsteady Euler-based concepts presented in the time domain. The most advantages of the model are the capability of modeling dynamic wake effects, tip losses and skewed wake aerodynamics. This is,...
