    Two-dimensional clustering of nanoparticles on the surface of cellulose fibers

    Abstract
    Density of surface charges of cellulose fibers and -potential of TiO2 nanoparticles in the solution were measured and controlled by pH. The adsorption and clustering of TiO2 nanoparticles on the surface of cellulose fibers were studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and a scale in different situations of repulsion and attraction between the particles and surface. The experiments show formation of two-dimensional clusters of nanoparticles on the surface. Weight measurement of the adsorbed particles and clusters via the adsorption time results in that there are three stages containing nucleation, two-dimensional growth and saturation for clustering of nanoparticles on the surface.... 

    Investigation of the transient growth in plane jet by non-modal stability analysis

    Abstract
    Linear stability analysis is used to characterize the dynamics of a plane jet by incorporating non-modal stability analysis besides classical global temporal stability analysis. It is explained that similar shapes of different global modes are the result of non-normal characteristics of linearized Navier Stokes equations. Optimal initial disturbances and their eigenfunctions together with transient energy growth are obtained for different time horizons and Reynolds numbers of the jet in the linear unstable configuration.     Abstract
    The effects of Pd addition to Fe (Pd/Fe = 0, 2.5/7.5, 5/5, 7.5/2.5 and 1) and growth temperatures (920 and 970 °C) on density, diameter and growth mode of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been studied. SEM observations and TG analyses confirmed that the CNT yields depend on Pd/Fe ratios as (7.5/2.5) > (5/5) > Pd > (2.5/7.5) > Fe at both growth temperatures. TEM data showed that addition of Pd results in tip growth mode. From Raman spectroscopy data, the order of samples' structural quality (I G /I D ratio) are Fe > Pd/Fe (2.5/7.5) > (5/5) > (7.5/2.5) > Pd and the I G /I D ratios increase by decreasing the growth temperature.     Breast cancer is the most common malignancy in women worldwide, and is responsible for more than half a million deaths each year. The appropriate therapy depends on the evaluation of the expression of various biomarkers, such as the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) transmembrane protein, through specialized techniques, such as immunohistochemistry or in situ hybridization.     A uniformly distributed ZnO nanowire array has been grown on silicon (100) substrates by catalyst-free chemical vapor transport and condensation. The effect of growth conditions including source heating temperature, substrate temperature, and gas flow rate on growth properties of ZnO nanowire arrays are studied. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and room temperature photoluminescence are employed to study the structural features and optical properties of the samples.     The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of Copper oxide on the microstructure, properties, and grain growth kinetic in Tin oxide- Based varistors. Copper oxide was mixed in Tin oxide with different concentration, including 0, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, and 1 mol% and the samples were sintered at 1250, 1300, and 1350 oC. Then, phase and microstructural characterization was investigated and consequently, electrical properties were evaluated.     Fatigue life and crack growth retardation due to periodic tensile overloads, which are superposed on constant amplitude cycles, have been investigated in the present study. In the numerical analyses, the Walker equation with the generalized Willenborg model has been used. The analyses and experiments have been performed on C(T) specimens made of 7075 aluminium. The periodic overloads have been induced at two different periodicities and the effect of overload ratio and overload periodicity on the fatigue life has been studied.     Optimization of operating parameters and rate of uranium bioleaching from a low-grade ore

    In this study the bioleaching of a low-grade uranium ore containing 480 ppm uranium has been reported. The studies involved extraction of uranium using Acidithiobacillus ferrooxidans derived from the uranium mine samples. The maximum specific growth rate (μ max) and doubling time (t d) were obtained 0.08 h-1 and 8.66 h, respectively. Parameters such as Fe2+ concentration, particle size, temperature and pH were optimized. The effect of pulp density (PD) was also studied. Maximum uranium bio-dissolution of 100 ± 5 % was achieved under the conditions of pH 2.0, 5 % PD and 35 °C in 48 h with the particles of d 80 = 100 μm.     Aluminum electrocrystallization is studied by means of electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). A model based on random birth and deterministic growth of monolayers is proposed, in which the edges are assumed to follow a propagation law. The high frequency impedance data show charge transfer reaction of AlCl4- reduction while the low frequency features signifies the growth mode of deposits.     We study the Abelian Sandpile Model and its relation with surface growth. ese two models are related through their field theories and equations of motion.
