(Shahr chay & Zola dam; IRAN)

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Naghilo, Akbar (Author) ; Jafarzadeh, Fardin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Monitoring has a high level of importance in the predicting and controlling of dam behavior. At all large dams, the dam performance can be analyzed through the installation appropriate devices during dam construction, impounding and operation periods. The main purpose of monitoring and instrumenting is to investigate variations and safety of dam on the basis of long-term data observations. This paper is aimed at evaluating the behavior of earth dams from the aspect of deformation and settlement during dam construction, impounding and operation periods. As a case study, dams of Shahr chay & Zola, IRAN, have been studied. For this purpose, the obtained results from modeling, deformation and...

Change Point Detection in Molecular Carrier Based Nano Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghoroghchian, Nafiseh (Author) ; Nasiri Kenari, Masoumeh (Supervisor) ; Aminzadeh Gohari, Amin (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Molecular communication (MC) is an emerging communication paradigm, whereas molecules are used as information carriers to establish communication among elements in nano-meter to meter scales. In this thesis, we investigate the problem of detecting and monitoring changes (abnormality) based on molecular communication, using quickest change point detection scheme. We assume the distributions and parameters of the system are known. To this end, we consider a network of multiple sensors, each sensing its surrounding and employing On-Off-keying modulation for data transmission toward a fusion center (FC). An abnormality initiates randomly in time and location, and further propagates in the...

Operation Optimization of PEMFC Using Online Performance Monitoring

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zarshad, Azad (Author) ; Roshandel, Ramin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Fuel cell is a very attractive technology for clean electricity production and has a wide range of applications from industry to transportation and power generation. There are several issues that prevent the development of this technology widely. Rapid degradation of fuel cells during operation is one of them. Online monitoring of operational parameters in order to control and optimize the effective variables of power generation and life of the fuel cell considered as an important way to mitigate fuel cell’s degradation. In this research, a set of models were developed to calculate the voltage, current, corrosion, as well as the fuel cell system state variables instantaneously. Two robust...

Numerical Modeling of Deep Excavation Behavior and It’s Comparision with Monitoring Data

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Eghtesad, Amir Hossein (Author) ; Jafarzade, Fardin (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Evaluating the magnitude and distribution of ground movements adjacent to an excavation wall is an important part of the design process when excavating in an urban environment. In urban environment, this movement controlled by monitoring and the result of monitoring need to compared with analysis result. 2D analysis can’t explain Three dimesional effects in excavation. This effects caused by the relatively high stiffness at the corners of an excavation lead to smaller ground movements near the corners and larger ground movement towards the middle of the excavation excavation's wall. Plane strain Ratio (PSR) quantify the magnitude of 3D corner effect in excavation defined as the ratio of the...

Market Reaction to Block Transactions of State-owned Firms

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Karimi, Ali (Author) ; Keshavarz Haddad, Gholamreza (Supervisor) ; Ebrahimnejad, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In this research, the effect of investment and transfer of state-owned companies on stock transactions on the day of trading in the stock market is investigated using data related to 54 major transactions in the years 2007 to 2020 using the event study method. And the results of this research can provide evidence for the positive and negative effects of major shareholders on the company, including monitoring and tunneling. The results of the research show that investment transactions have a positive return on stock trading days and divestment transactions have a negative effect on stock trading days. This effect in the case of investment transactions first increases and then decreases with...
