, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Pelaseyed, Sogol (Author) ; Madaah Hosseini, Hamid Reza (Supervisor) ; Samadi Kuchaksaraei, Ali (Co-Supervisor)
    Abstract
Poly (lactate-co-glycolate) is a typical biocompatible and biodegradable synthetic polymer. Addition of TiO2 nanoparticles improved compressive modulus of PLGA scaffolds and reduced fast degradation. Porous 3D scaffolds, which are synthesized using biocompatible and biodegradable materials, could provide suitable microenvironment and mechanical support for optimal cell growth and function. A novel method has been applied to fabricate PLGA/TiO2 scaffolds without using any organic solvent or porogen for nucleation compared to former ways, with aim of improving the biocompatibility, macroscale morphology and well inter-connected pores efficacy: Air-Liquid Foaming. Adjustment of the foaming...

    Abstract
TiO2 and TiO2-Graphene have been synthesized by hydrothermal method. Their physical, chemical and morphological properties have been investigated using XPS, XRD, FTIR, TEM, EDX, UV-Vis and AFM analyses. Moreover, photocatalytic efficiency of prepared materials has been examined using degradation of methylene blue. AFM image exhibited that monolayer GO with thickness of 10 nm was synthesized using modified Hummer’s method. FTIR analysis represented main characteristic peak of oxygen bond on the surface of GO, whereas for TiO2-Graphene most of oxygen functionalities on the surface were removed partially or completely. Photocatalytic degradation of MB proved this extension of light absorption....

Uniform beads free polyamidenanofibers with lower diameter were fabricated.A 18% w/w of polyamide in formic acid was chosen and the effect of magnetic field, adding magnetic ionic liquid surfactant, auxiliary electrode on the main fiber were investigated. They termsfiber 1 to fiber 5. The mean diameters of 489,...

The Effect of Porosity on Photocatalytic Properties of TiO2 Nanocoating Fabricated By Sol-Gel

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mehmandoust, Ehsan (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
This thesis is concerned with the synthesis and characterization of high porous Ti based on thin films and the effect of polymer agents on their photocatalytic properties. Ti films can demonstrate different properties like self -cleaning and treatment of broad range of aqueous pollutants when it is exposed to light of wavelength less than 400 nm. This is due to photocatalytic reaction occurring on film surface which results in film superhydrophilicity and the active oxygen species production. This active sites and radicals will cause oxidize organic pollutants and microbe adherent to the material surface.
In this study Ti thin films have been prepared by the sol-gel method from...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Rahman, Masoud (Author) ; Taghavinia, Nima (Supervisor) ; Shahrokhian, Saeed (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Dye sensitized solar cells (DSCs) are among the 3rd generation solar cells which their mechanism of light absorption is similar to chlorophyll in green leafs and is based on photo-excitation of dyes. The electron-hole pairs of photo-excited dye separate at the interface of mesoporous semiconductor-dye-electrolyte. One of the approaches to increase the light path length and therefore the light harvesting efficiency in DSC is the addition of light scatterers inside the mesoporous semiconductor (photoanode). In this research, nanoparticulated hollow TiO2 fibers are introduced as novel light scatterers in DSCs with simultaneous light scattering, light trapping and high surface area. Light...

Synthesis and Properties of Functional Super Hydrophobic TiO2

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Razavi, Atieh (Author) ; Dolati, Abolghasem (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Titanium nano-oxide (TiO2) coatings have been used for self-cleaning, antimicrobial, and dust-proof designs. The degree of wetting of a solid surface with water in humid air depends on how the surface tension of the existing phases relates. The ratio between these tensions estimates the contact angle between a drop of water and the surface on which it is placed. A contact angle above 150 º is essential for surface overflow. In this study, 18 different combinations of titanium oxide and FAS, PDMS and PMS nanoparticles were obtained with a static contact angle of 165 to 150 º and a dynamic contact angle of 7 º.1 to 4.5 º. Following the measurement of water droplet slip speed on a sloping...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Farhadi, Amin (Author) ; Ghorbani, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Mohammadi, Mohammad Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Nowadays, heterogeneous photocatalytic processes have attained a particular importance among the other advanced oxidation processes in purification of organic polluted wastewaters. Titanium oxide is the most popular photocatalyst because of its strong oxidizing abilities for decomposition of organic pollutants, superhydrophilicity, chemical stability, long durability, non-toxic nature, and low cost. Same as other semiconductors, high recombination rate of charge carriers is the main weakness that cause decreases in photocatalytic efficiency. One of the solutions is coupling this material with other semiconductors. Core-shell nanoparticles are the type of these composites that show high...
