Modeling and Vibration Analysis of Laminated Composite Beam with Magneto-Rheological Fluid Segments

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Naji, Jalil (Author) ; Behzad, Mehdi (Supervisor) ; Zabihollah, Abolghasem (Supervisor) ; Shamloo, Amir (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Magnetorheological (MR) materials show variations in their rheological properties when subjected to varying magnetic fields. They have quick time response, in the order of milliseconds, and thus are potentially applicable to structures and devices when a tunable system response is required. When integrated with a structural system, they can produce higher variations in the dynamic response of the structure. In this thesis, vibration behavior of laminated-composite beam with MR Fluid is investigated. In most studies, shear strain across the thickness of MR layer has been considered as a constant value which does not precisely describe the actual shear strain field. Shear modulus of MR layer in...

, Ph.D. Dissertation Sharif University of Technology Mahyar, Hamid Reza (Author) ; Movaghar, Ali (Supervisor) ; Rabiee, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In analyzing the structural organization of many real-world networks, identifying important nodes has been a fundamental problem. The network centrality concept deals with the assessment of the relative importance of network nodes based on specific criteria. Central nodes can play significant roles on the spread of influence and idea in social networks, the user activity in mobile phone networks, the contagion process in biological networks, and the bottlenecks in communication networks. High computational cost and the requirement of full knowledge about the network topology are the most significant obstacles for applying the general concept of network centrality to large real-world social...

A Symmetric Kernel Matrix for Community Detection in Directed Complex Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Firouzi, Hamid Reza (Author) ; Roosta Azad, Reza (Supervisor) ; Zarei, Mina (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
Complex directed networks are widely used in representing, modeling and summarizing various homo and heterogeneous real networks such as protein-protein interactions, social and twitting networks, brain connectomes, chipsets mapping and marketing. While working on undirected networks in the hope for detecting communities or any other static and dynamic structures, has been on agenda of many physician and computer scientists, dealing with directed ones seems more challengeable for quick advances. Availability of theoretical basis especially symmetric adjacency matrix recommends modeling with undirected graphs but we believe that directed graphs are more general and practical to model real...

A New Immunization Algorithm Based on Spectral Properties for Complex Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Zahedi, Ramin (Author) ; Khansari, Mohammd (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Vaccination is one of the ways of disease control and prevention, which not only protect individuals against the disease, but also reduce the disease spread rate. Mass vaccination of individuals is not always possible due to the high cost and limitation of immunization resources. Therefore, researchers are always seeking solutions to find the persons that their immunization may have a greater impact in reduction of disease spread rate. The advent of network epidemic models and the possibility of removal the secured nodes in those models, showed that this problem is equivalent to finding a limited set of individuals that their removal will eliminate or minimize the number of people at risk of...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Sadati, Hoda (Author) ; Khansari, Mohammad (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Complex networks have recently become a very noticeable subject because of their remarkable theory on real networks such as rumor spreading. This thesis contributes to a prevention strategy which uses a maximal clique algorithm to find overlapping communities and also uses inverse targeting immunization strategy to immune these communities. By the using maximal clique algorithm combined with inverse targeting strategy we have achieved that the TIK method (targeted immunization using k-clique percolation) obtains 10% of better immunization than HD (highest degree) method which is one of the best methods in targeted immunization strategies. The TIK also demonstrates that rumor spreading is...

A Complex Network Model for Peer-to-Peer Streaming Networks

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Kaveh, Amin (Author) ; Akbari, Behzad (Supervisor) ; Rabiee, Hamid Reza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Complex networks science have become the major method in the modeling of topological features of networks and graphs. Although file sharing Peer-to-Peer systems can be modeled by networks with un-weighted nodes and links, using these networks for Peer-to-Peer streaming systems have not led to a suitable model. In this research, we aim to model Peer-to-Peer streaming networks with weighted nodes and weighted links so that present the performance of nodes and the amount of streaming that is transmitted between nodes respectively. Due to lack of information about upload bandwidth distribution in networks we assume this distribution as uniform. Because of dynamics of network, this distribution...

A System Dynamic Simulation Approach to Investigate Economic And Environment Factors Based on VUCA framework: A Case Study in Petrochemical Industry

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Monfaredi Jafarbagi, Aoun (Author) ; Hassannayebi, Erfan (Supervisor)
    Abstract
To maintain adaptability, businesses should anticipate changes in their environment. The commonly employed forecasting method within corporate circles is the bottom-up approach, which relies on historical data for projecting future trends. However, research suggests that this approach often falls short of accurately reflecting real-world events. This has led to the adoption of dynamic systems modeling, a technique grounded in the assumption of stable conditions. This method effectively replicates the system's current state, thereby assisting in predicting future behaviors over a longer timeframe. The dynamic systems modeling approach was employed in this study, underscoring the imperative...
