    Several mathematical modeling approaches are used to model water resources systems such as deterministic and non-deterministic, lumped and distributed, steady and dynamic, simulation and optimization approaches. All these modeling paradigms - categorized as open systems - assume that the input conditions to the system will not change during their operation.     Sarabs (spring-fed pools) are an important natural freshwater resource in Iran where they are used for potable, agricultural and recreational purposes. A survey of 17 Sarabs was undertaken in the Province of Kermanshah to obtain data on their water quality and biology which would help inform future management of these multifunctional resources. These Sarabs differed greatly in size (50-30000m2 surface area) and were situated at altitudes of between 622 and 1697 m above sea level.     This paper assesses the cycles and indices of drought in Iran and prepares general maps of the region, which are affected by droughts with 10- and 30-year reversible periods frequency of 1 and 3 years by utilizing statistical methods. To study the condition of drought, some indices have been applied in Yazd Province over a 48-year statistical period (1925-2000).     This paper addresses the impacts of climate change on hydrology and water resources in the Karkheh River Basin (KRB), which is the third most productive basin in Iran and has great potential for hydropower generation. The total potential capacity of reservoirs in this basin is more than 15 ×109 Mm3, of which 40% has been built. The sensitivity of the KRB to potential climate change is investigated by simulating basin streamflow response under different climate change scenarios. A conceptual rainfall-runoff model (IHACRES) was first calibrated by using hydrological and streamflow observations. In this study, an innovative approach is proposed that allows for estimation of irrigation water use at the catchment scale based on satellite soil moisture data.     In this paper we seek to find the contribution of groundwater in irrigation agriculture in Iran. We use nationwide panel data of agricultural production in the period of 1993-2013. The results show us differences in productivity of agricultural outputs due to availability of groundwater. Panel data allows us to control regional factors like soil fertility affecting the productivity. We are looking for the main contributors to groundwater usage.
