  7. Abstract:
  8. In this thesis, we investigate a passive forward scattering radar system based on satellite signal. In this thesis we have used the GPS satellite signal as a non-cooperative transmitter. In order to analyze the passive forward scattering radar system as a subset of the bistatic radars, first the features and equations of the bistatic radar will be presented, and then we will discuss the important advantages and disadvantages of the passive forward scattering radar. In order to investigate the features of passive forward scattering radar based on satellite signal, an appropriate geometry will be presented with the characteristics of this radar and parameters such as time delay between direct path signal and target return signal, Doppler shift of direct path signal and target return signal and the radar cross section of the targets will be studied. Finally the Power density and signal to noise ratio of received signals will be analyzed.Cancellation of direct path and clutter is an important problem in passive bistatic radars. We generalize the SCA algorithm and propose a novel sliding algorithm for clutter and direct path cancellation in the passive radars. This proposed algorithm has lower complexity and requires less memory than the mentioned method. Finally, in order to estimate the target parameters such as target velocity and the point that target crossing the base line, by using a multi-static structure consisting of one satellite and two receivers and using spectrogram and cross-correlation of the signals at the output of square law detectors in the receivers, these target parameters will be estimated
