Assessment of waterlogging and provide risk maps by using RS, GIS and field data (case study: Qazvin plain)

  8. Groundwater quality protection has a significant importance due to abundant applications of these resources in various fields such as agriculture, industry and drinking water. Removal of groundwater pollution is a time and money consuming process and often pollution is detected when improving the quality of groundwater is nearly impossible. For this vulnerability assessment there are three methods: Processing, Overlap-Index and Statistical Methods. Overlap-Index is composed of variety of maps such as Geology, Soil, Groundwater Depth and etc which uses in determining of vulnerability Index. In the present study for underground pollution potential determining, four indexes such as AVI، GOD، DRASRIC and SINTACS are used to evaluate vulnerability of aquifer in a part of Qazvin plain, Iran. For the sake of importance of Wetlands conditions and land utilization parameters in risk and vulnerability potential determining, these conditions are illustrated with satellite images. With using of Threshold Limit Method and control points, wetlands in the plain are determined. Groundwater depths are determined with using of local wells information and exploiting of Ordinary Kerrigan Method and it is calculated lower than critical limit. With composing of land utilization parameter and SINTACS, Generic ¬DRASTIC maps, local risk maps are gained. Having the most effective parameters, Natural risk is selected as a superior index for vulnerability classification. According to this index, local vulnerability is classified in six categories such as: Without pollution risk, Very low vulnerability, Low vulnerability, Low to Medium vulnerability, Medium to High vulnerability, High vulnerability of which The ratio of each class to total area of plain is 2.38, 20.73, 72.22, 20.50, 5.95, and 0.05 in turn. The amount of efficacy of effective parameters with utilizing of single parameter sensitivity analysis in vulnerability and risk determination are assessed. Totally sensitivity analysis results prove that net recharge rate parameter and soil type have further sensitivity than other parameters and effective and theoretical weights of applied parameters cannot conform completely
