  7. Abstract:
  8. Gold is a noble and precious metal used in various industries, including jewelry, electrical and electronic, catalyst, and medical industries. Multiple processes are used to extract and refine gold; each one has its advantages and disadvantages. In this research Work, comprehensive information on the electrochemical purification process of gold from anode electrode with 75% crude gold and titanium cathode electrode in the chloride electrolyte solution is presented. To perform the purification process, first using the parameters and their levels, including temperature (30, 45, and 60 degrees Celsius), voltage (2, 2.2, and 2.4 volts), and acid concentration (1, 2, and 3 M), Design of Experiments in Design Expert V11 was performed. Then the effect of each of the parameters of temperature, voltage, and acid concentration and their binary and ternary interactions on the percentage of gold and silver and copper impurities were investigated. One-dimensional and two-dimensional diagrams, two-dimensional contour diagrams, and three-dimensional diagrams were used, and finally, the parameters were optimized. To obtain gold with high purity, temperature and voltage were effective, but the concentration of electrolyte dissolved acid did not affect the percentage of gold. Atomic absorption spectrophotometer was used to analyze the purity of gold in the electrolyte solution. By conducting experiments and examining the effect of parameters, it was found that temperature was the most influential parameter on the percentage of gold purity, which increased with the rate of gold purity. The following effective parameter was voltage, which increased with the percentage of gold purity, but the impurity with gold also increased in the sediment. It was also observed that with increasing or decreasing the acid concentration of the electrolyte solution, the percentage of gold purity does not change. According to the experiments, the optimal parameters include the temperature of 60 ° C and voltage of 2.4 V, and acid concentration of 1 M electrolyte solution. Under optimized parameters, gold purity reaches 98.3%
