    Abstract
    X-ray Powder Diffraction beamline is one of the first priorities of Iranian Light Source Facility day-onebeamlines. This beamline will cover the research requirements of scientific community in the fields of physics, material science, chemistry, etc and also have benefits for industries. This paper shortly reports the ray tracing calculations for the optical design of this beamline. The results show that bending magnet source would satisfy the nowadays users requirements, although insertion device should also be considered for covering the requirements of the future users.     Abstract
    Prediction of stable orientations is a key subject in the crystal plasticity literature. This work deals with the effects of deformation mode on the resulted stable orientations and texture evolution of FCC materials. The simulations are based on the numerical procedure developed by the authors in previous works in which, a rate-sensitive crystal plasticity model with Secant hardening law was employed. The resulting non-linear system of equations is solved by the modified Newton-Raphson method.     A fluorometric method was developed for simultaneous determination of Cr(VI) and Cr(III) ions using graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets (g-C3N4 NS) as a nanosized fluorescent indicator probe. The g-C3N4 NS were prepared using high-temperature carbonization of melamine followed by ultrasonication-assisted liquid exfoliation. The g-C3N4 NS display fluorescence with excitation/emission peaks located at 320 and 450 nm. The chromium speciation is based on the quenching of g-C3N4 NS fluorescence.     Abstract
    The morphological and microstructural changes during mechanical milling of Al powder mixed with 5 vol% nanoscaled alumina particles (35 nm) were studied. The milling was performed in a planetary ball mill under argon atmosphere for various times up to 24 h. The process was also conducted for Al and Al-5 vol% Al2O3 (1 μm) powders to explore the role of reinforcement nanoparticles on the mechanical milling stages. The results showed that the addition of hard particles accelerate the milling process, leading to faster work hardening rate and fracture of the aluminum matrix.     Taking into account X-ray diffraction, one of the well-known methods for calculating the stress-strain of crystals is Williamson-Hall (W–H). The W-H method has three models, namely (1) Uniform deformation model (UDM); (2) Uniform stress deformation model (USDM); and (3) Uniform deformation energy density model (UDEDM). The USDM and UDEDM models are directly related to the modulus of elasticity (E). Young’s modulus is a key parameter in engineering design and materials development.     This work presents a simple solvent-free route based on solid-state thermal decomposition approach to synthesize magnetic copper ferrite (CuFe2O4) microspheres and copper ferrite/metal oxide composites. For this purpose, [Cu(en)3]3[Fe(ox)3]2 complex (where en = ethylenediamine and ox = oxalate) was introduced as a new single-source precursor. Ferromagnetic property of the nanostructures was determined by alternating gradient force magnetometer.     Abstract
    The low temperature perovskite-type calcium titanate (CaTiO3) thin films and powders with nanocrystalline and mesoporous structure were prepared by a straightforward particulate sol-gel route. The prepared sol had a narrow particle size distribution about 17 nm. X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy revealed that, the synthesized powders had highly pure and crystallized CaTiO3 structure with preferable orientation growth along (1 2 1) direction at 400-800 °C. The activation energy of crystal growth was calculated 5.73 kJ/mol.     Pd doped WO3 fibers were synthesized by electro-spinning. The sol gel method was employed to prepare peroxopolytungstic acid (P-PTA). Palladium chloride and Polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) was dissolved in the sol Pd:WO3 = 10% molar ratio. The prepared sol was loaded into a syringe connected to a high voltage of 18.3 kV and electrospun fibers were collected on the alumina substrates. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) techniques were used to analyze the crystal structure and chemical composition of the fibers after heat treatment at 500 °C.     In the present study the behavior of Ti-Al-C ternary system is investigated during mechanical alloying. The mixture of Ti, Al and C powders was used with initial stoichiometric composition of Ti3AlC2. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was used to characterize the milled powders and a thermodynamic analysis of the process was then carried out using Miedema model. This thermodynamic analysis showed that for all binary Ti-C, Al-C, Ti-Al systems and ternary Ti-Al-C systems, among all compositions, the thermodynamic driving force for intermetallic phase formation is much greater when compared with the formation of solid solutions or amorphous phases.     In this research, bioactive glass (BG) of the type CaO-P2O 5-SiO2 and nanocrystalline forsterite (NF) bioceramic were successfully synthesized via sol-gel processing method. Heat-treatment process was done to obtain phase-pure nanopowders. After characterization of each sample, the nanocomposite samples were prepared by cold pressing method and sintered at 1000°C.     A novel mesoporous MCM-41 with remarkable wide channel diameters and thick walls was synthesized. The procedure involved the acid-catalyzed hydrolysis of tetraetheylorthosilicate (TEOS) in a water/ethanol/isopropoanol solvent mixture while employing 1-hexadecylamine as a templating agent and mesitylene as an auxiliary agent. After removal of the template by either extraction or calcination at 560 °C, the resulting mesoporous materials had surface areas of 1,289 and 1,210 m2/g.The channel diameterswere found to be 46.8-51.2 Å ,while thewall thicknesses were 20.9-21.1 Å.     In this study, two different chemical solution methods were used to synthesize Zinc oxide nanostructures via a simple and fast microwave assisted method. Afterwards, the photocatalytic performances of the produced ZnO powders were investigated using methylene blue (MB) photodegradation with UV lamp irradiation.     Abstract
    Bi2O3 compositions were prepared to investigate the effect of rare earth metal oxides as co-dopants on phase stability of bismuth oxide. Compositions containing 9-14 mol% of Y2O3 and Er2O3 were synthesized by solid state reaction. The structural characterization was carried out using X-ray powder diffraction. The XRD results show that the samples containing 12 and 14 mol% total dopants had cubic structure, whereas the samples with lower dopant concentrations were tetragonal.     VO2(picolinichydrazone) complex as a catalyst was stabilized on a SBA-15 mesoporous silica as a catalytic support by using (3-chloropropyl)triethoxysilane as a connector. SBA-15 is nanoporous and has a high ratio of surface area to volume.
