    Abstract
    Foamy oil reservoirs and reservoirs which have water in oil emulsions have some difficulties through production with water based enhanced oil recovery techniques. Study of IFT of these oils may improve production of these reservoirs, especially for water based techniques which are most popular techniques. In this study, IFT of these oils were studied in reservoir condition. Effects of pressure, temperature and water composition were investigated. These effects were studied through Pendant drop technique and VIT apparatus

    Water in oil emulsion usually forms during natural water encroachment or enhanced oil recovery processes due to the reaction between asphaltenic and naphthenic acid part of oil with brine in some heavy oil reservoirs. This results in major production challenges because of high w/o emulsion viscosity which leads to significant pressure drops.     Abstract
    In this work, the effect of brine salinity on water-in-oil emulsion flow performance in porous media is studied as it imposes a significant challenge to oil production in the petroleum industry. A crude oil sample from an Iranian oilfield and synthetic brine with different salinities (40-140 g/L salt) are used. The results show that the emulsion viscosity and interfacial tension increase slightly with salinity, while they do not considerably affect the flow behavior. The emulsion stability analysis shows that larger w/o emulsion droplets are formed for higher brine salinity, which potentially block more pore spaces through straining and interception mechanisms.     Rheological behavior of two crude oils and their surfactant-stabilized emulsions with initial droplet sizes ranging from 0.5 to 75 μm were investigated at various temperatures under steady and dynamic shear testing conditions.
