    Estimating the change point of the parameter vector of multivariate Poisson processes monitored by a multi-attribute T 2 control chart

    Abstract
    When a control chart signals an out-of-control condition, knowing when the process has really changed (the change point) accelerates the identification of the source of special causes and makes the corrective measures to be taken sooner. In this paper, a new multi-attribute T 2 control chart based on two transformation methods is initially proposed to monitor the parameter vector of multi-attribute Poisson processes. Then, the maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) of the process change point designed for both linear trend and step change disturbances are derived.     Abstract
    The problem of finding the optimal node density for reconstructing a stochastic signal from its noisy samples in sensor networks is considered. The signal could be nonstationary and nonbandlimited. A weight is assigned to each location that indicates the relative importance of the signal at that location. It is shown that when the number of samples is very large, the optimal density of the samples at each location is proportional to the square root of the weight associated to that location

    Abstract
    The well known square root formula for the kinetics of adsorption by spherical particle U(t)=6/r0(Dt/π)1/2 is only valid in the early stage of adsorption (U(t) ≤ 0.3), where U(t) shows fractional attainment to the equilibrium. Present study shows that with a little manipulation of this formula, its application range can be extended to U (t) ≤ 0.95. The suggested formula U(t)=6/r0(Dt/π)1/2 -3Dt/r0 2 in addition of simplicity, has higher accuracy than both square root and Vermeulen's formulas

    We consider the fundamental limits of reliable communication over a two-state compound channel when the state of the channel needs to be masked.     We have developed an enhanced technique for characterizing quantum optical processes based on probing unknown quantum processes only with coherent states. Our method substantially improves the original proposal (Lobino et al 2008 Science 322 563), which uses a filtered Glauber-Sudarshan decomposition to determine the effect of the process on an arbitrary state. We introduce a new relation between the action of a general quantum process on coherent state inputs and its action on an arbitrary quantum state.     Abstract
    This paper presents the first ASIC implementation of an LR algorithm which achieves ML diversity. The VLSI implementation is based on a novel hardware-optimized LLL algorithm that has 70% lower complexity than the traditional complex LLL algorithm. This reduction is achieved by replacing all the computationally intensive CLLL operations (multiplication, division and square root) with low-complexity additions and comparisons. Based on extension of Eshelby's equivalent inclusion method, a unified approach is presented to study the effect of a multiphase inhomogeneity on the SIF at the tip points of two- and threedimensional lamellar inhomogeneities under nonuniform far-field loadings.     Abstract
    To achieve an exact three-dimensional command to line of sight (CLOS) guidance law, a novel control scheme comprising feed-forward terms (to exactly compensate known kinematics) accompanied by an adaptive nested saturated feedback strategy is presented. A square-root cubature Kalman filter is designed as the CLOS non-linear guidance filter. Performance of the proposed guidance law is compared with the augmented proportional navigation (APN), at the absence and presence of target maneuvers, autopilot dynamics and non-ideal tracking filter.
