    A disambiguation technique for passive localization using trajectory analysis

    Abstract
    In some well-known passive localization methods, when the number of equations equals the number of unknown object coordinates, there arise finite number of possible solutions. A localization disambiguation technique is required to identify the correct solution in these cases. As an example, the exact solution of time-difference-of-arrival (TDOA) based equations for four receiver sites, leads to a couple of solutions with only one of them being the true target position.     Abstract
    In the current study, a novel approach which takes into account the effectiveness of both convectional surfactants and biosurfactants was investigated. The biosurfactant produced by Enterobacter cloacae strain was utilized concomitant with conventional surfactant (sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS)) to evaluate its capability to reduce the SDBS adsorption on rock surface (biosurfactant acts as sacrificial agent) or synergistically enhance the effectiveness of the SDBS.     Abstract
    Separation of the effects of initial horizontal stress and relative density on cone tip resistance in sandy soils has been a complicated issue for many years. In order to overcome this problem, a numerical modeling of CPT which has been verified by calibration chamber tests, has been used in this paper to achieve a reliable analytical solution. The analytical solution has resulted in two relationships for sleeve friction and cone tip resistance in terms of the initial conditions of sandy soil. Based on the presented solution, the initial horizontal stress and relative density can be determined according to CPT measurements. © 2017 Elsevier Ltd

    Abstract
    Effective diffusion coefficient is an important parameter which needs to be determined in different fields of study, such as cathode catalyst layers of PEM fuel. For this purpose, a Loschmidt diffusion cell can be used. When a porous medium is placed in Loschmidt apparatus, the effective gas diffusion coefficient (EGDC) of this section must be correlated by diffusion coefficient in absence of a porous medium.     Elliptic localization is a range-based positioning technique exploiting multiple transmitter-receiver pairs, each of which provides separate bistatic range (BR) measurements. In this paper, a novel computationally efficient solution for locating a single target from BR measurements in distributed MIMO radar systems is proposed. Due to nonconvex nature of the associated maximum likelihood (ML) estimation problem, its globally optimal solution is difficult to obtain.     In this research, the ZnOG hybrid thin film was produced via solgel method. The surface morphology, band gap and photoactive properties of the films were studied by means of SEM, UV–Vis and photoluminescence analysis. In addition, the ability of the thin film in photocathodic protection of carbon steel (CS) and 304 stainless steel in 3.5 wt.% NaCl and Na2S solutions under dark and UV illumination was investigated by polarization test as well as OCP and current measurements during coupling of steels with ZnOG photoanode.
