    Abstract
The reaction of 15-18 membered benzodiazacrown ethers with salicylaldehyde afforded n-membered O2N2-donor macrocyclic ligands mounted with 1,3-diazacyclohexane subrings (1-4) in high yields. The products were characterized by FT-IR, 1H, 13C NMR spectroscopy, elemental analyses, and single crystal X-ray studies. The solid state structures revealed strong intramolecular hydrogen bonding between the pendant phenolic group and the tertiary nitrogen of the corresponding macroring

Stimuli-responsive emissive behavior of 1- and 1,3-connectivities in azulene-based imine ligands: Cycloplatination and Pt-Tl dative bond formation

    Abstract
The preparation of two new azulene-based imine ligands N-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-6-tBu-1-azulenylmethaneimine, 3, and N-(2,6-diisopropylphenyl)-6-tBu-3-(2,6-diisopropylphenyliminomethyl)-1-azulenylmethaneimine, 4, is described. These imine ligands display stimuli responsive emissive behavior and their fluorescence can be switched on and off by protonation and neutralization with trifluoroacetic acid and trimethylamine, respectively. The cyclometalation of the monoimine ligand by platinum gave the cyclometalated complex [PtMe(SMe2)(3′)], 5, (where the prime denotes the cyclometalated ligand 3). The reaction of 5 with TlPF6 yields the trinuclear bent Pt2Tl complex {[PtMe(SMe2)(3′)]2(μ-Tl)}PF6,...

    Abstract
The preparation and characterization of new heteronuclear-platinum(ii) complexes containing a 1,1'-bis(diphenylphosphino)ferrocene (dppf) ligand are described. The reaction of the known starting complex [PtMe(κ2N,C-bipyO-H)(SMe2)], A, in which bipyO-H is a cyclometalated rollover 2,2'-bipyridine N-oxide, with the dppf ligand in a 2:1 ratio or an equimolar ratio led to the formation of the corresponding binuclear complex [Pt2Me2(κ2N,C-bipyO-H)2(μ-dppf)], 1, or the mononuclear complex [PtMe(κ1C-bipyO-H)(dppf)], 2, respectively. According to the reaction conditions, the dppf ligand in 1 and 2 behaves as either a bridging or chelating ligand. All complexes were characterized by NMR spectroscopy....

    Abstract
Symmetrical and unsymmetrical biscyclometalated platinum(II) complexes [Pt(ptpy)2], 1, and [Pt(ptpy)(bppy)], 2, in which ptpy = deprotonated 2-(p-tolyl)pyridine and bppy = deprotonated 2-(3-bromophenyl)pyridine, have been prepared from the reaction between tris(pentafluorophenyl)borane, B(C6F5)3 and 1 equiv of monocyclometalated complexes [PtMe(ptpy)(ptpyH)], B, and [PtMe(ptpy)(bppyH)], C, respectively. The solid-state structures of 1 and 2 have been determined by X-ray crystallography. The reaction of 1 with 1 equiv of TlPF6 or [Au(PPh3)]OTF resulted in the production of heteronuclear complexes [Pt(ptpy)2Tl]PF6, 3 and {Pt(ptpy)2[Au(PPh3)]}OTF, 4, respectively. X-ray diffraction data showed...

    Abstract
The bidentate carboxamide ligand N-(thiazole-2-yl) picolinamide (LH) was synthesized in the environmentally friendly ionic liquid TBAB, and the five-coordinated CuII-complex, [Cu(L)2(H2O)].CHCl3 (1) was synthesized from LH and copper(II)acetate. Cupric oxide [CuO] nanoparticles (2) have been prepared by the thermal decomposition of (1) as a new precursor at 600 °C for 3 h under air atmosphere. (1) was characterised using FT-IR spectroscopy, elemental analyses and its solid state structure was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction. (2) were identified by FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray analysis and thermo-gravimetric...

Fe 50Co 50 nanoparticles via self-propagating high-temperature synthesis during milling

    , Article Powder Technology ; Volume 208, Issue 3 , 2011 , Pages 623-627 ; 00325910 (ISSN) Azizi, A ; Yourdkhani, A ; Koohestani, H ; Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Asmatulu, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
Self-propagating exothermic reactions during mechanical milling of FeCl 3/CoCl 2 mixture together with sodium seeds resulted in formation of Fe 50Co 50 nanoparticles. Highly exothermic reactions resulted in temperature raise and formation of Fe 50Co 50 phase within the first 5min; however Fe 50Co 50 single-phase was obtained after 30min of milling. The products were characterized by XRD, SEM, EDS, TEM and VSM. Obtained results showed that both milling time and NaCl salt matrix affected the size, morphology, microstructure and magnetic properties of the produced particles
