    Abstract
TiO2–graphene (TiO2–GR) nanocomposites were synthesized using photocatalytic reduction method. TiO2–GR nanocomposites were thereafter doped with noble metals (Pt and Pd) by chemical reduction of the corresponding cations. The samples were characterized by different techniques. The addition of GR to TiO2 decreases the crystalline size of TiO2 due to the homogeneous dispersion of the TiO2 nanoparticles on GR sheets and prevention of coagulation of TiO2 nanoparticles during synthesis process. In addition, the surface area of TiO2 was increased by addition of GR and deposition of noble metals which helps to prevent agglomeration of graphene sheets and TiO2 nanoparticles. Red shifts to the higher...

Spinel MgAl2O4 nanospheres coupled with modified graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets as an efficient Z-scheme photocatalyst for photodegradation of organic contaminants

    Abstract
In this contribution, spinel MgAl2O4 nanospheres prepared by the combustion method were coupled with thermally-exfoliated g-C3N4 nanosheets (TE-GCN) through an efficient isoelectric point-assisted calcination technique. Physical characteristics of the synthesized nanocomposite were understudied utilizing the XRD, FT-IR, FE-SEM, TEM, BET-BJH, UV–Vis DRS, PL, and EIS analyses. This material was used as a novel nano-photocatalyst for degradation of reactive red 195 (RR195) industrial dye contaminant. Results revealed that, a successful synthesis of a heterojunction between the components of the nanocomposite was achieved. This exhibited an enormously improved electron-hole separation leading to...

Delafossite-alumina nanocomposite for enhanced catalytic wet peroxide oxidation of anionic pollutants

    , Article Journal of Hazardous Materials ; Volume 417 , 2021 ; 03043894 (ISSN) Nazari, P ; Nouri, O ; Xie, Z ; Setayesh, S. R ; Wei, Z ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Mass transfer efficiency and catalytic reactivity are the two major hurdles for heterogeneous catalytic wet peroxide oxidation (CWPO) technologies. To address these issues, nanocomposite CuFeO2/Al2O3 was synthesized and assessed as a novel catalyst for enhanced adsorption and oxidation of anionic pollutants (catechol and reactive red 195 (RR195)) in waters. With a positive charge on the nanocomposite by introducing Al2O3, the adsorption of anionic pollutants was promoted. The surface complexation reaction on CuFeO2/Al2O3, which fits well to the Langmuir isotherm, has engined the mass transfer of pollutants to the nanocatalyst that demonstrated 96.46% and 99.75% removal of catechol and RR195...
