Palladium-catalyzed carbamate-directed regioselective halogenation: A route to halogenated anilines

    , Article Journal of Organic Chemistry ; Volume 81, Issue 9 , 2016 , Pages 3868-3876 ; 00223263 (ISSN) Matloubi Moghaddam, F ; Tavakoli, G ; Saeednia, B ; Langer, P ; Jafari, B ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
This study describes an efficient method for ortho-selective halogenation of N-arylcarbamates under mild conditions for the first time. Although being weakly coordinating, N-arylcarbamates act very well as a removable directing group for activation of C-H bonds. The developed procedure results in extremely valuable halogenated N-arylcarbmates that can further be hydrolyzed to halogenated anilines. The obtained reaction conditions showed broad scope and wide functional group tolerance. All the products were formed in good yields with extremely high selectivity

Supported iron oxide nanoparticles are found to be efficient and recoverable catalyst in the selective oxidation of thiols to their corresponding disulfides using hydrogen peroxide as green oxidant at room temperature. The protocol features an easy work-up, simplicity and the utilizing mild reaction conditions, as well as high selectivity toward disulfides, are highly advantageous compared to alternative reported methodologies. The supported iron oxide nanoparticles could be easily recovered and reused several times without any loss of activity. Solid products characterization in a multi-step mineralization process

    , Article Chemical Engineering Journal ; Vol. 252 , 2014 , Pages 210-219 ; ISSN: 13858947 Hemmati, A ; Shayegan, J ; Sharratt, P ; Yeo, T. Y ; Bu, J
    Abstract
In this paper, we describe a carbon dioxide mineralization process and its associated solid products. These solid products include amorphous silica, iron hydroxides and magnesium carbonates. These products were subjected to various characterization tests, and the results are published here. It was found that the iron hydroxides from this process can have different crystalline properties, and their formation depended very much on the pH of the reaction conditions. Different forms of magnesium carbonate were also obtained, and the type of carbonate precipitated was found to be dependent on the carbonation temperature. Hydromagnesite was obtained mainly at low temperatures, while dypingite was...

    Abstract
A heterogeneous polymeric catalyst was synthesized by immobilization of copper ions in a graphene oxide/poly(vinyl imidazole) nanocomposite. This catalyst has proven to be highly active in a practical protocol for click synthesis of 1,2,3-triazole via one-pot three-component cycloaddition of halides, terminal alkynes and sodium azide. The reaction was carried out in water medium and good to excellent yields of products were obtained using only 1.0 mol% of catalyst. The catalyst can be readily recovered and reused eight times under the described reaction conditions without significant loss of activity. The reaction also proceeded well with only 0.002 mol% of catalyst, which shows the high...

    Abstract
A kinetic model based on a mechanistic approach was developed for thermal hydrocracking of a paraffinic feedstock. The hydrocarbon feed was described as a mixture of representative molecules based on structural group analysis (SGA) where information from elemental analysis, H1, and C13-NMR of the feed were used to obtain the average concentration of various structural groups from which representative molecules were constructed. The behavior of the feedstock under reaction conditions was described in terms of the reaction of the individual molecules. The reaction of each of the representative molecules and the corresponding product distribution was based on free radical mechanisms. The...

    , Article Chemical Engineering and Technology ; Volume 40, Issue 10 , 2017 , Pages 1923-1930 ; 09307516 (ISSN) Maleki, H ; Kazemeini, M ; Bastan, F ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A series of heterogeneous catalysts including different molar ratios of CaO/talc was synthesized to study the transesterification reaction of canola oil and methanol under different reaction conditions. Characterization and kinetic results revealed that the activity of this catalyst was enhanced due to the increase of CaO/talc molar ratio value leading to an improvement in the biodiesel production. Moreover, the effect of various parameters on the activity of the undertaken catalysts was studied in order to determine the optimum process conditions. Leaching measurements and the durability of the CaO/talc catalyst under several reaction cycles were evaluated and proved it to be a stable...

    Abstract
A novel injectable in situ gelling thermosensitive chitosan-block-poly(ethylene glycol) formulation was synthesized for drug delivery applications. Block copolymerization of monomethoxy-poly(ethylene glycol) onto chitosan using potassium persulfate as an initiator was carried under a nitrogen atmosphere in aqueous solution. The effects of potassium persulfate and poly(ethylene glycol) concentrations, reaction time and reaction temperature on block polymerization were studied by determining the yield of reaction (%Y), polymerization efficiency (%E) and add-on percentage (%Add-on). Keeping the other conditions constant, the optimum reaction conditions were found to be initiator = 0.01 M,...

    Abstract
Glycerol might be converted into hydrogen through a catalytic reforming process. In order to design an effective route, the choice of reaction conditions and in particular its medium considered yet a crucial issue still needing further investigations. In this research, a mathematical model of reforming processes in vapor (i.e., steam reforming (SR) and liquid phase (i.e.; aqueous phase reforming (APR)) were developed. This was performed in terms of understudying effects of parameters including the reactor diameter, catalyst morphology (i.e., particle size) and mass flow rate on the glycerol conversion. Then, a superior reaction medium in terms of these variables was determined. For data...
