    Contraflow or lane reversal is an efficient way for increasing the outbound capacity of a network by reversing the direction of in-bound roads during evacuations.     We consider a setting in which a rail infrastructure provider divides the track costs proportionally between the above-rail operators based on their usage. We study a proposed access charge regime aimed at incentivizing the operators to use longer train configurations. The regime sets a target length and gives a discount on an operator’s charge if it deploys a configuration of at least the target. That is, the operators may be able to reduce their access charges by deploying a longer train configuration.     A short circuit fault in an AC railway supply system could have undesired consequences; including high-amplitude current flow in the power path, the rail potential rise in the fault vicinity. This paper studies the problem of the rail voltage rise in Tehran-Karaj railway system by the use of a steady state circuit model for the AC autotransformer during a phase-to-ground fault. By using this model, all the currents and voltages of the system can be easily calculated for all possible short circuit fault locations.     The railroad blocking problem is an important issue at the tactical level of railroad freight transportation. This problem consists of determining paths between the origins and destinations of each shipment to minimize the operating and user costs while satisfying the railroad supply and demand restrictions. A mixed-integer program (MIP) is developed to find the optimal paths, and a new heuristic is developed to solve the proposed model. This heuristic decomposes the model into two sub-problems of manageable size and then provides feasible solutions.     A new criterion for prediction of train derailment is presented in this article. A three-degrees-of-freedom (3 DOF) wheelset model is used to identify the main dynamic parameters that affect wheelset derailment. Using these parameters and conventional definition of derailment coefficient, a new criterion for prediction of wheelset derailment is introduced.     Wheel wear is one of the major costs in railway tracks consisting of sharp curves. In this paper, wear behavior of S1002 profiles of wheels in the "Southern Line" of Iran's railway, which consists of a large number of distinct and/or consecutive sharp curves, is studied using the field data measuring technique.
