    Abstract
In this study, we have proposed a method based on non-equilibrium effects to generate the superposition of macroscopically distinguishable quantum states, known as Schrödinger cat states, by using a Mach-Zehnder interferometry type experiment. The interaction of the input number state with a Kerr medium in the presence of a couple of heat baths in different temperatures in the interaction picture and without imposing a Markov assumption is considered. We have shown that the study of dynamics of the cat states under non-equilibrium condition opens up a way for the robustness of quantum features against the destructive role of the environment, even at high temperature limits. It is verified...

Room-temperature quantum effect in silicon nanoparticles obtained by low-energy ion implantation and embedded in a nanometer scale capacitor

    , Article Applied Physics Letters ; Volume 86, Issue 16 , 2005 , Pages 1-3 ; 00036951 (ISSN) Shalchian, M ; Grisolia, J ; Assayag, G. B ; Coffin, H ; Atarodi, S. M ; Claverie, A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
In this article, we present the room-temperature current-voltage characteristics of a nanometer scale (100×100 nm2) metal-oxide-semiconductor capacitor containing few (less than 100) silicon nanoparticles. The layer of silicon nanoparticles is synthesized within the oxide of this capacitor by ultra low-energy ion implantation and annealing. Current fluctuations in the form of discrete current steps and sharp peaks appeared in the static and dynamic I (V) characteristics of the capacitor. These features have been associated to quantized charging and discharging of the nanoparticles and the resulting Coulomb interaction to the tunneling current. © 2005 American Institute of Physics

Influence of quantum effect on deviation from linear isotherm regularity

    , Article Scientia Iranica ; Volume 19, Issue 3 , June , 2012 , Pages 555-560 ; 10263098 (ISSN) Safdari, F ; Parsafar, G. A ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
A general regularity was found based on an effective pair potential of Lennard-Jones LJ (12, 6), for both dense, nonmetallic and nonionic fluids and solids according to which (Z-1) v2 linearly varies with respect to ρ2 for each isotherm, and this equation of state (EoS I) is known as LIR. However, despite the fact that Ne is a simple spherical species, unexpectedly, its solid and liquid phases both show a significant deviation from EoS I. In this work, we have investigated the accuracy of the EoS I for other systems, including quantum light molecules, such as D 2, H 2 and He, in both fluid and solid states at different temperatures. Like Ne, we have noticed that these systems do not well...

Controlling morphology and structure of nanocrystallineVcadmium sulfide (CdS) by tailoring solvothermal processing parameters

    , Article Journal of Nanoparticle Research ; Volume 13, Issue 7 , 2011 , Pages 3011-3018 ; 13880764 (ISSN) Dalvand, P ; Mohammadi, M. R ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Cadmium sulfide (CdS) with different morphologies was successfully prepared by solvothermal process by controlling the processing parameters, including nature of precursor and solvent, reaction temperature and process time. X-ray diffraction patterns revealed that, in all cases highly pure and crystallized CdS with hexagonal structure were obtained. In addition, it was found that the processing parameters influence on preferable growth direction of CdS nanostructures. Field emission scanning electron microscope analysis showed that CdS nanowires with different aspect ratios were obtained (depending upon the reaction temperature and process time) in presence of sulfur powder and...
