    Power system stability assessment during restoration based on a wide area measurement system

    Abstract
    Online power system stability assessment during restoration has not been strongly addressed yet. The introduction of wide area measurement systems (WAMS), however, made it possible to monitor the stability online. This study technically presents a detailed analysis of stability during restoration using WAMS. The power system build-up strategy is used as the restoration approach, based on which the early and the last stages of restoration are to divide the power system into islands and interconnect them, respectively.     Abstract
    Production from gas condensate reservoirs requires precise determination of reservoir fluid properties along with their positive impact on real reservoir performance evaluation and fluid in place volume calculation. This fact is particularly important because liquid drop out phenomena occurs as a result of pressure drop due to fluid production and condensate remains in reservoir [Mohebzadeh, 2005.     Abstract
    High-temperature superconducting (HTS) transformers with multi-segment windings have been proposed in earlier literatures for the hysteresis loss reduction and short circuit electromagnetic force mitigation. The optimum distributive ratios for these multi-segment windings have been determined in earlier literatures. Asymmetrical seven segment winding with its optimum distributive ratio (k = 1/12) results in minimization of short circuit electromagnetic forces under normal tap and any adjusted tap.     Abstract
    Geologic sequestration of CO2 in deep saline aquifers is becoming increasingly important as a method with the greatest potential to economically sequester large volumes of anthropogenic CO2. The interfacial tension (IFT) between the formation brine in the aquifer and the injected CO2 phase has a significant influence on the displacement, and its precise determination is essential for accurate modeling and evaluation of such a process. This paper presents two new mathematical models to calculate the brine/CO2 IFT.
