    Abstract
Several metals and alloys can be used to enhance the mechanical and physical properties of micro parts and components for micromechanical, micro-chemical or sensor applications. Such parts can be produced in series by the powder metallurgical process of micro metal injection moulding (μ-MIM). This paper describes a novel manufacturing route for metallic multi-material micro components, two-component micro metal injection moulding (2C-μ-MIM). Similar to "two-colour" injection moulding of plastics, the process allows the integration of multiple functions in a micro part by simultaneously injecting and joining two materials in one mould. Net-shape parts with solid material interfaces are...

    , Article Materials and Manufacturing Processes ; Volume 21, Issue 1 , 2006 , Pages 87-96 ; 10426914 (ISSN) Sadrnezhaad, S. K ; Lashkari, O ; Sharif University of Technology
    2006
    Abstract
Fixtured sintering of up to 5 hours at 1223 to 1323 K is successfully used to diminish the dimensional change of NiTi memory alloys produced from mixtures of elemental Ni and Ti powders packed and pressed at room temperature under 400, 500, and 600 MPa pressure. The improvements obtained can help near-net-shape technology via powder metallurgy that overcomes the traditional casting problems such as oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and carbon absorption and intermetallic compound precipitation, which lower the workability and the homogeneity of the final alloy. The effects of compaction pressure, sintering time, and sintering temperature on dimensional change, porosity, hardness, and morphology of...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Jamali, Mohsen (Author) ; Bagheri, Reza (Supervisor) ; Seyyed Reihani, Morteza (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Particulate ceramic reinforced aluminum matrix composites have high specific strength and stiffness; however, low fracture toughness and deformability have restricted their industrial applications. Among the methods introduced to overcome this shortcoming is fabricating the layered composites which contain alternative layers of aluminum (Al) and discontinuously reinforced aluminum (DRA). In this study, two different routes; i.e., "Powder extrusion - Casting - Rolling" and "Powder extrusion - Roll bonding" were employed to produce layered Al-DRA composites. After production of Al6061/SiCp composites via hot powder extrusion, mentioned processes were utilized to make DRA-Al-DRA laminate. In...

    Abstract
The creep behavior of particulate Al-5vol.% SiC composite was investigated. The composite powder was produced by mechanical milling and hot extruded at 450°C at the ratio of 16:1. A creep test was carried out at a constant load at 598, 648, and 673 K. Using the existing equations proposed for the steady-state creep of metals, the threshold stress and the stress exponent of the creep as a function of temperature were determined. The stress exponent was found to be 3 at the temperature of 673 K and 8 at the lower temperatures, i.e. 598 and 648 K. The dependency of the threshold stress to temperature obeys the Arrhenius relationship with the energy term of 29 kJ mole-1
