    Abstract
As Gregory Bateson, the British social scientists, once said "You can't live without an eraser", the process of learning is not a unidirectional way toward accumulation of knowledge, rather, organizations should critically evaluate the value of their knowledge and if necessary, actively forget no-longer-useful knowledge. A brief review of related literature shows that the concept of knowledge active forgetting (KAF) is a crucial aspect of organizational learning and knowledge management. However, many aspects of this topic deserve more attention by researchers. The main gap in the literature seems to be related to the linkage between peculiar aspects of knowledge (such as stickiness, context...

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Afsah Noodeh, Tooraj (Author) ; Mashayekhi, Alinaghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
The purpose of this research is to determine and measure the mechanisms which cause an increase in pace, scope and intensity of organizational learning at schoolsand four levels are defined in it for learning concept at a high school: beginner, struggling, developed and learning. Having learning capacity increased, the school upgrades to another level. The features of organizational learning are different at each one of the above cited levels. At higher levels, it occurs at a higher rate and enjoys a wider scope and...

Analysis of the Level of Learning in the Research Office of Sharif University of Technology based on Single Loop and Double Loop Learning Models

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Hakem Zadeh, Farimah (Author) ; Mashayekhi, Ali Naghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Today the economical and technological success of a nation is based upon the amount of knowledge that is created within that nation. Thus universities, as the main engines for creating knowledge, are held responsible for this matter. Sharif University is one of the top universities in Iran; which is fortunate to have some of the very high quality faculties across nation and has been succesfull so far to attract the highest ranked students for both its undergraduate and graduate programs. Unfortunately, despite its potentials, Sharif University has not reached its desirable place in the world and nation’s ranking of universities according to their research index. This research has thus...

Organizational Learning Measurement in Organizational Processes: A Case Study in Assessing Learning in New Product Development in System Group Co.

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Borna, Behnam (Author) ; Mashayekhi, Alinaghi (Supervisor)
    Abstract
Organizational learning is essential for organizations to grow and survive. Organizations can gain competitive advantage through proper organizational learning. Number of studies in this field in recent years shows the importance of this issue among practioners and academics. The first step in managing organzaitonal learning is its measurement. Organizations can be provided with solutions if an appropriate measurement tool is designed. The main question of this research is whether this tool can be designed or not so that organizational learning in organizational processes can be measured. Despite the significance of organizational learning measurement, the current studies in this field lack...

A Framework for Identification of Dynamic Capabilities

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Mohammadi, Hanieh (Author) ; Mashayekhi, Alinaghi (Supervisor) ; Arasti, Mohammad Reza (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
The strategic importance of Dynamic Capability (DC) has been a central theme in Strategic Management literature since Teece article released in 1997. But, relatively little attention has been given to the operationalization of the concept in organizations. In this paper we propose a framework based on Pavlo and Daneel researches to identify DC in an organization. Through a in-depth case study in dairy industry we explore the detail component of our framework. With a series of interviews with managers and experts of an Iranian dairy producing company, we first confirmed the framework as a whole and then we conclude that the process of DC introduced by Pavlo can have different interpretation...

The influence mechanisms of executive/non-executive board compostion on board’s attribution style have been explored. In two case studies, I have examined boards’ causal interpretation about a critical incident which had a significant impact on firm performance. A qualitative research approach has been taken in the case studies. Data was gathered through semi-structured interviews with all board members and was analyzied with the theme analysis method. According to the results, board of directors’ collective attribution formation process can be devided into three stages of members’ expression of information and facts at board meetings, forming the individual judgements of members and at...
