    , Article Environment, Development and Sustainability ; Volume 23, Issue 8 , 2021 , Pages 11494-11524 ; 1387585X (ISSN) Askarifard, M ; Abbasianjahromi, H. R ; Sepehri, M ; Zeighami, E ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
There is limited research that considers the sustainability aspect of the projects’ schedule. The present study proposes a model to cover this gap by considering sustainable development criteria. A multi-objective model with four objective functions, including minimizing cost, risk, and socio-environmental impacts, has been presented to decrease the project’s delay. Since some of the parameters are considered under conditions of uncertainty for the proximity of problems to real projects, the robust programming method is used to deal with the uncertainty, and the epsilon-constraint method was applied to solve the multi-objective model. Several scenarios are also defined to analyze the...

An integrated replenishment-recruitment policy in a sustainable retailing system for deteriorating products

    , Article Socio-Economic Planning Sciences ; Volume 69 , 2020 Sazvar, Z ; Sepehri, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2020
    Abstract
Currently, retail facilities play a significant role both economically and socially for their contributions to job creation and to reducing unemployment. In this paper, economic, environmental, and social issues, including unemployment, job creation for the local workforce within their hometown, the immigration of an unemployed workforce, and the naturalization of non-natives are addressed for a retailer. We explore the class of deteriorating products from the viewpoint of its economic and environmental features. Then, a linear multi-objective mathematical model is developed to determine an integrated replenishment and recruitment policy for the retailer in the direction of sustainability....

A web-based methodology for convergent product fuzzy networks using the Steiner tree

    , Article Journal of Industrial and Production Engineering ; Volume 30, Issue 7 , 2013 , Pages 415-432 ; 21681015 (ISSN) Hassanzadeh, R ; Mahdavi, I ; Mahdavi Amiri, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
An important manufacturing technology spectrum is to consider rapid and sensitive assemblies through convergent product (CP) in digital environment. We integrate functions and sub-functions using a comprehensive mathematical optimization process. To form the CP, a web-based fuzzy network is considered in which a collection of base functions and sub-functions configure the nodes and each arc in the network is to be a link between two nodes. The aim is to find an optimal tree of functionalities in the network adding value to the product in the web environment. First, a purification process is performed in the product network to assign the links among bases and sub-functions. Then, fuzzy...

A multi-objective robust optimization model for logistics planning in the earthquake response phase

    , Article Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review ; Volume 49, Issue 1 , 2013 , Pages 217-249 ; 13665545 (ISSN) Najafi, M ; Eshghi, K ; Dullaert, W ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Usually, resources are short in supply when earthquakes occur. In such emergency situations, disaster relief organizations must use these scarce resources efficiently to achieve the best possible emergency relief. This paper therefore proposes a multi-objective, multi-mode, multi-commodity, and multi-period stochastic model to manage the logistics of both commodities and injured people in the earthquake response. Also, a robust approach is developed and used to make sure that the distribution plan performs well under the various situations that can follow an earthquake. Afterwards, it proposes a solution methodology according to hierarchical objective functions and uses it to illustrate the...

A weighting scheme and a model for computing alternative pareto optimal solutions of multi objective linear programming problems

    , Article IEEM2010 - IEEE International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Engineering Management, 7 December 2010 through 10 December 2010 ; 2010 , Pages 2110-2115 ; 9781424485031 (ISBN) Maali, Y ; Mahdavi Amiri, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A new weighted order scheme is presented for finding alternative Pareto optimal solution of multi objective linear programming problems. In developing the weighted scheme, a big M model is proposed. We establish some properties of the ordering scheme and the proposed model and show how to determine proper values of the parameter M. Illustrative examples are worked out to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach and the competitiveness of the obtained solutions as compared to the ones obtained by the weighted maxmin and the weighted aggregation methods

A superlinearly convergent nonmonotone quasi-Newton method for unconstrained multiobjective optimization

    Abstract
We propose and analyse a nonmonotone quasi-Newton algorithm for unconstrained strongly convex multiobjective optimization. In our method, we allow for the decrease of a convex combination of recent function values. We establish the global convergence and local superlinear rate of convergence under reasonable assumptions. We implement our scheme in the context of BFGS quasi-Newton method for solving unconstrained multiobjective optimization problems. Our numerical results show that the nonmonotone quasi-Newton algorithm uses fewer function evaluations than the monotone quasi-Newton algorithm. © 2020 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group

Analysis and interaction of exergy, environmental and economic in multi-objective optimization of BTX process based on evolutionary algorithm

    , Article Energy ; Volume 59 , 2013 , Pages 147-156 ; 03605442 (ISSN) Sahraei, M. H ; Farhadi, F ; Boozarjomehry, R. B ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
In this paper sustainability analysis (exergy, environmental and economic) and multi-objective optimization for an aromatic plant are provided and interactions between decision variables are discussed. Environmental evaluation shows that the cancer human toxicity and global warming are the most important environmental concerns and the weight of EIs (environmental impacts) are mainly due to process wastes. The optimizations results demonstrate parameters like reactor temperature have a wide range in the optimizations while some variables, such as extraction unit variables have the same value. Utility EI reduction occurred in economic and exergy optimizations rather than environmental...

Application of multi-criterion robust optimization in water-flooding of oil reservoir

    , Article Journal of Petroleum Science and Engineering ; Volume 109 , September , 2013 , Pages 1-11 ; 09204105 (ISSN) Yasari, E ; Pishvaie, M. R ; Khorasheh, F ; Salahshoor, K ; Kharrat, R ; Sharif University of Technology
    2013
    Abstract
Most of the reported robust and non-robust optimization works are formulated based on a single-objective optimization, commonly in terms of net present value. However, variation of economical parameters such as oil price and costs forces such high computational optimization works to regenerate their optimum water injection policies. Furthermore, dynamic optimization strategies of water-flooding often lack robustness to geological uncertainties. This paper presents a multi-objective while robust optimization methodology by incorporating three dedicated objective functions. The goal is to determine optimized and robust water injection policies for all injection wells. It focuses on reducing...

The proposed model yields an insight into the overall agricultural system, taking into account the influence of import quota policies. The purpose of this study is to develop a multi-objective model identifying the best import quota policy for Tehran Municipality Organization of Fruits and Vegetables. The multiple objectives are considered to be price mean, price variation and markup. Key conclusions were reached on how...

    Abstract
This paper presents a long-term dynamic multi-objective model for distributed generation investment. The proposed model optimizes three objectives, namely active losses, costs and environmental emissions and determines the optimal schemes of sizing, sitting of DG units and specially the dynamics of investment over the planning period. The Pareto optimal solutions of the problem are found using a GA algorithm and finally a fuzzy satisfying method is applied to select the optimal solution considering the desires of the planner. The solutions of Pareto optimal front are analyzed to extract general useful information for planners about the appropriate DG technologies and placement schemes. The...
