    Abstract
Morphine is a strong opioid used for the treatment of moderate to severe pain. Its use is, however, associated with adverse effects including sedation, nausea, constipation, respiratory depression, and development of tolerance as well as dependence. Thus, in this work electrochemical oxidation of morphine has been done on BaFe12O19 nanoparticles of the modified electrode. BaFe12O19 nanoparticles of the modified graphite screen-printed electrode (GSPE) and the bare GSPE were compared, representing that the modified electrode takes advantages of higher sensitivities and selectivities with lower limit of detection. Differential pulse voltammetric procedure has been used to analyze data. Results...

Electrocatalytic oxidation of methane at nickel hydroxide modified nickel electrode in alkaline solution

    , Article Electrochemistry Communications ; Volume 5, Issue 2 , 2003 , Pages 184-188 ; 13882481 (ISSN) Jafarian, M ; Mahjani, M. G ; Heli, H ; Gobal, F ; Heydarpoor, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Inc  2003
    Abstract
Nickel hydroxide modified nickel electrodes prepared by cycling the potential of a nickel electrode in alkaline solution exhibited electrocatalytic activity for the oxidation of methane in alkaline media. In the presence of methane the oxidation peak current of nickel hydroxide increases while that of the reverse process decreases. This is attributed to the mediation of nickel species, probably β-NiOOH phase, in the process of electrocatalysis. The mechanism of methane oxidation has also been discussed in terms of the formations of intermediates normally encountered in small organics electro-oxidation. It has also been suggested that in the further oxidation of the intermediates, ions in the...

    Abstract
Nanodiamond-graphite (NDG) decorated with Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs-NDG) was prepared and used to construct a novel sensitive sensor for the voltammetric determination of thioridazine (TR). The results indicate a remarkable increase in the oxidation peak currents together with a negative shift in the oxidation peak potentials, in comparison to the bare pyrolytic graphite electrode. Remarkable enhancement in microscopic area of the electrode along with strong adsorption of TR on the surface of the modified electrode resulted in a considerable increase in the peak current of TR. The surface morphology and the nature of the composite film deposited on PGE were characterized by scanning electron...

    Abstract
We have prepared a pyrolytic graphite electrode (PGE) whose surface is covered with a thin film of a nano-mixture of graphite/diamond (NGD). The electrode is shown to be capable of electrochemically sensing of tryptophan (TRP) and 5-hydroxytryptophan (HTRP). The presence of the NGD film resulted in a remarkable increase in the peak currents and sharpness of the waves so that submicromolar concentrations of TRP and HTRP become detectable. Potential scan rates, the pH of the solution, the accumulation conditions and the amount of the modifier were optimized via cyclic voltammetry. Linear sweep voltammetry, under optimized accumulation time and in open circuit operation, was applied to the...

    Abstract
The electrochemical behavior of the anti-inflammatory drug piroxicam is studied at the surface of a plain pyrolytic graphite electrode modified with chitosan-doped carbon nanoparticles. An electroactive surface was produced by drop-casting a suspension of the modifier and characterized by atomic force microscopy. A remarkable enhancement is found in studies on the cyclic voltammetric response towards piroxicam. This is described on the basis of the thin-layer mass transport regimes within the porous films, which leads to a considerable increase in the active surface area of the electrode. The electrode shows a linear response to piroxicam in the range of 0.05-50 μM, with a detection limit of...

    Abstract
Electrocatalytic oxidation of penicillamine (PA) at a carbon paste electrode chemically modified with cobalt salophen as a schiff base complex (CoSal) was thoroughly investigated. The results of cyclic voltammetry (CV) and polarization studies were used for the prediction of the mechanism of electrochemical oxidation of PA mediated with CoSal at the surface of a modified electrode. The performance of the modified electrode was compared with those of electrodes modified with cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc). In comparison, CoSal appears to be considerably more effective as a catalyst for reduction of the overpotential of the anodic oxidation of PA, resulting in a very sharp anodic CV peak at...

Electrocatalytic oxidation of thioglycolic acid at carbon paste electrode modified with cobalt phthalocyanine: Application as a potentiometric sensor

    , Article Electrochimica Acta ; Volume 48, Issue 28 , 2003 , Pages 4143-4148 ; 00134686 (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Yazdani, J ; Sharif University of Technology
    2003
    Abstract
The voltammetric behavior of thioglycolic acid (TGA) was studied at a carbon paste electrode modified with cobalt phthalocyanine (CoPc). The CoPc-modified electrode shows high electrocatalytic activity toward oxidation of TGA, lowering substantially the overpotential of anodic reaction. Results of the cyclic voltammetry show that TGA undergoes a two-step oxidation (each step with one electron) resulting the dimer of thiol. Enhancement of the rate of electron transfer results in a near-Nernstian behavior of modified electrode to the concentration of TGA and makes it as a suitable potentiometric sensor for the detection of this compound. This electrode shows a near-Nernstian response in a wide...

    Abstract
Complexes of Ni II-(N,N′-bis(2-hydroxy, 3-methoxy benzaldehyde)-1,2-propandiimine) can be electro-polymerized onto GC electrode in an alkaline solution to give an electro-active film strongly adhered on the electrode surface. In alkaline solution, this poly-(Ni II{sal-1,2-pn(3-OMe) 2})/GC film shows the typical voltammetric response of a surface-immobilized redox couple, as can be anticipated for the Ni 2+/Ni 3+ transitions into the film. In addition, the film exhibits a potent and persistent electro-catalytic activity towards the oxidation of 1- and 2-propanol. In CV studies, in the presence of these alcohols, poly-(Ni II{sal-1,2-pn(3-OMe) 2})/GC electrode shows a new oxidation peak for the...
