    Abstract
In this research, synthesis of lanthanum oxide nanoparticles using supercritical water as a reaction medium in batch type reactor was studied. The crystallographic identity and morphology of the synthesized nanoparticles were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The XRD patterns indicate that the well-crystallized lanthanum oxide nanocrystals can be easily obtained under the current synthetic conditions. The effect of four parameters includes temperature, reaction time; primary concentration of aqueous solution of lanthanum (III) nitrate and pH of starting solution on reaction efficiency, particle size and the BET surface area were investigated...

Process optimization and kinetics for leaching of cerium, lanthanum and neodymium elements from iron ore waste's apatite by nitric acid

    , Article Transactions of Nonferrous Metals Society of China (English Edition) ; Volume 27, Issue 2 , 2017 , Pages 420-428 ; 10036326 (ISSN) Ferdowsi, A ; Yoozbashizadeh, H ; Sharif University of Technology
Nonferrous Metals Society of China  2017
    Abstract
The leaching of rare earth elements (REEs) including cerium, lanthanum and neodymium from apatite concentrate obtained from iron ore wastes by nitric acid was studied. The effects of nitric acid concentration, solid to liquid ratio and leaching time on the recoveries of Ce, La and Nd were investigated using response surface methodology. The results showed that the acid concentration and solid to liquid ratio have significant effect on the leaching recoveries while the time has a little effect. The maximum REE leaching recoveries of 66.1%, 56.8% and 51.7% for Ce, La and Nd, respectively were achieved at the optimum leaching condition with 18% nitric acid concentration, 0.06 solid to liquid...

Long term performance degradation analysis and optimization of anode supported solid oxide fuel cell stacks

    Abstract
The main objective of this work is minimizing the cost of electricity of solid oxide fuel cell stacks by decelerating degradation mechanisms rate in long term operation for stationary power generation applications. The degradation mechanisms in solid oxide fuel cells are caused by microstructural changes, reactions between lanthanum strontium manganite and electrolyte, poisoning by chromium, carburization on nickel particles, formation of nickel sulfide, nickel coarsening, nickel oxidation, loss of conductivity and crack formation in the electrolyte. The rate of degradation mechanisms depends on the cell operating conditions (cell voltage and fuel utilization). In this study, the degradation...

The influence of lanthanide on NiO-MgO-SiO2 catalysts for syngas production via propane steam reforming

    , Article Molecular Catalysis ; Volume 499 , 2021 ; 24688231 (ISSN) Barzegari, F ; Rezaei, M ; Kazemeini, M ; Farhadi, F ; Keshavarz, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2021
    Abstract
In this study, 15 wt. % NiO-MgO-SiO2 catalysts modified by La2O3 promoter were prepared through a co-precipitation route and employed for syngas production via propane steam reforming. Various techniques including X-Ray diffraction, BET, TPR, CO2-TPD, CO-chemisorption, TPO, and Scanning electron microscopy were utilized to characterize the final samples. The results indicated that the incorporation of La2O3 enhanced the metal-support interaction providing less reducible Ni species. In comparison with the La-free catalyst, the promoted ones possessed higher metal dispersion and smaller Ni particles. Nonetheless, excessive amounts of La covering the active sites negatively decreased the Ni...

Effect of rare-earth promoters (Ce, La, Y and Zr) on the catalytic performance of NiO-MgO-SiO2 catalyst in propane dry reforming

    , Article Molecular Catalysis ; Volume 522 , 2022 ; 24688231 (ISSN) Barzegari, F ; Rezaei, M ; Kazemeini, M ; Farhadi, F ; Keshavarz, A. R ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier B.V  2022
    Abstract
In this contribution, NiO-MgO-SiO2 catalysts containing 3 wt. % of CeO2, La2O3, Y2O3, and Zr2O3 were examined for propane dry reforming at 550-750 °C. The samples were synthesized by a co-precipitation route, followed by a hydrothermal treatment, and characterized by BET, XRD and TPX analyses. The results indicated that the addition of promoters enhanced the metal-support interaction and basic characteristics, while the acidic nature of the promoted catalyst was changed in a different way. The highest propane conversion of 39.6% was observed over Ce-promoter sample, while the un-promoted catalyst possessed a value of 36.8% at 700 °C. Nevertheless, La and Y-promoted catalysts possessed a...

    Abstract
In this study, mathematical modelling of oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) to C 2 hydrocarbons (C 2H 6 and C 2H 4) over La 2O 3/CaO catalyst in a fixed-bed reactor operated under isothermal and non-isothermal conditions was investigated using the MATLAB program. In this process, methane and acetylene were the inputted feed and ethane, ethylene, propylene, propane, i-butane and n-butane were the output products. The amount of methane conversion obtained was 12.7% for the former feed however; if pure methane was inputted this conversion rose to 13.8%. Furthermore, the plasma process would enhance the conversion, selectivity towards desired product and process yield. A comparison between the...

    Abstract
Monometallic and bimetallic supported metal oxides catalysts on γ-alumina were prepared by heterogeneous deposition-precipitation. The γ-alumina used as a support was synthesized by the sol-gel and the co-precipitation methods. Supports and catalysts were characterized by Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area, X-ray diffraction (XRD), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The performance of the prepared catalysts was studied for total oxidation of toluene in air at different relative humidity and oxidation temperatures. Efficiency of bimetallic catalysts for deep oxidation of toluene was...
