    , Article Journal of Alloys and Compounds ; Volume 448, Issue 1-2 , 2008 , Pages 284-286 ; 09258388 (ISSN) Madaah Hosseini, H. R ; Naghibolashraphy, N ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
The effects of Misch-Metal (MM) oxide addition on magnetic properties, crystal structure and microstructure of the M-type strontium ferrite have been studied. By MM substitution of Sr a significant increase in intrinsic coercivity and a slight decrease in remanence was observed. The highest value of energy product was obtained at 4 wt.% MM addition. By calculating the lattice constants of 4 and 8 wt.% MM added specimens, it was found that the length of c-axis decreases by 4 wt.% MM addition and then undergoes a considerable increase at 8 wt.%, while the a-axis increases monotonously. The SEM observations revealed that the migration of MM oxides to the grain boundaries could be the major...

Magnetic viscosity-coercivity relation for Fe1-xCox fine particles

    , Article Physica B: Condensed Matter ; Volume 403, Issue 1 , 2008 , Pages 12-15 ; 09214526 (ISSN) Zoriasatain, S ; Sebt, S. A ; Akhavan, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    2008
    Abstract
The variation of the applied field results in a subsequent change of magnetization with time. There is a relationship between the coercivity (Hc), as the equilibrium characteristic of the system, and its magnetic stability (1/S), as a parameter characterizing the time dependence. 1/S as a function of Hc has been measured and studied for different Fe1-xCox samples. We synthesized several samples with different values of x by applying various magnetic fields during the grains' growth, and observed a linear relationship between 1/S and Hc. © 2007 Elsevier B.V. Abstract
The single-domain particles, especially FeCo fine particles have many applications in magnetic information technology. We have prepared Fe 1-xCox fine particles for different x by borohydride method and measured the magnetic and structural properties of the samples. We have then determined the variations of coercivity and anisotropy energy versus x in Fe1-xCox fine particles. The obtained results have been analyzed on the basis of various magnetic anisotropies. Magnetic anisotropies affect the coercivity of the medium for each x as follows: shape and crystal anisotropies for x=0, surface and crystal anisotropies for x=1, shape, induced and crystal anisotropies for x=0.3 and 0.5, and shape...

    Abstract
A new, simple and rapid carbon dot (CD) based fluorescent probe for speciation of Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions was developed. The as-prepared CDs contain phenol groups on their surfaces and due to the special coordination interaction of phenol groups with Fe3+ ions, this sensing system exhibits excellent sensitivity and selectivity toward Fe3+. In order to detect Fe2+ ions as well, a specific amount of H2O2 was introduced to the detection system to transform Fe2+ to Fe3+ of which the latter is the determinable form of iron. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the fluorescence intensity of the sensor decreased as the Fe3+ ion concentration increased. The relationship plot between the...

    Abstract
The change of the applied field in a medium containing anisotropic magnetic grains, makes the number of magnetic moments in the field direction, and in the opposite direction to vary. Near H = Hc, probability of transition between the two minimum energies (SW model) increases strongly and the magnetization of system varies rapidly. We measured the time dependence of magnetization for various Fe1-xCOx samples, in the presence of some step fields. These samples were grown via solving iron, and cobalt salts with borohydride and then, heat treatment was accomplished on them. The results of time measurement of magnetization in step fields reveals a linear proportionality between coercivity and...

Remanent magnetization of Fe1-xCox fine particles

    , Article 4th International Conference on Magnetic and Superconducting Materials, MSM'05, Agadir, 5 September 2006 through 8 September 2006 ; Volume 3, Issue 9 , 2006 , Pages 3281-3284 ; 18626351 (ISSN) Sebt, S. A ; Zoriasatain, S ; Akhavan, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Fine Fe1-xCox grains with various values of × have been grown via the borohydride method in the presence of different magnetic fields, H0. In this method, the presence of magnetic moments at the bcc lattice sites of iron causes the formation of acicular single domain grains with a nearly 0.2 μm length. The magnetic field, H0, sets the magnetic moment of SD grains parallel to each other and forms some chains of these particles. This is equivalent to the presence of an effective internal field that increases the remanent magnetization, Mr. From the SW model point of view, the remanent magnetization of sample is determined by Boltzman distribution function at the two minimum energies. In fact,...

    Abstract
In FeCo fine particles, induced anisotropy has a considerable contribution in increasing the coercivity. We have prepared Fe0.7Co0.3 fine particles by the borohydride method in the presence of various magnetic fields in the range 0 ≤ H0 ≤ 2 kOe. We have studied and analysed the factors affecting the induced anisotropy and magnetic structure of these particles by the use of SEM, XRD and vibrating sample magnetometer. It was found that heat treatment, and also the presence of a magnetic field of about 1 kOe during the grain growth, result in the maximum coercivity of Fe 0.7Co0.3 fine particles. The value of magnetic field intensity should be such that it causes formation of oriented atomic...

    Abstract
CuMS2 (M=A1, In, Fe) ternary compounds were synthesized via the facile polyol method in autoclave. Depending on the functional groups of solvent and surfactant, the structure of the nanocrystals can be controlled in the form of wurtzite or chalcopyrite. The chalcopyrite structure was obtained when the precursors solved in the mixture of diethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol 600 and ammonium hydroxide. When the solvent was replaced by ethylene diamine, the wurtzite was obtained along with chalcopyrite (polytypism). The products were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) for analysis of structural properties, Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) for studying morphological...

    Abstract
Electrical properties and electronic structure of Bi1-xCa xFe1-yMnyO3-δ grown by pulsed-laser deposition on BaTiO3/SiO2/Si substrate were investigated. Results showed that Ca has drastic effect on symmetry of crystal and electrical poperties of BiFeO3. On the other hand, Mn revealed to have more radical effect on optical properties and energy gap of the compound. XPS results represented that although Ca tend to decrease Fe valence state, Mn tends to stabilize it at 3+ (at least in this concentrations). UV-visible study yielded bandgap of 2.51-2.81 eV (at 300 K) for different concentrations of Ca and Mn. UV-visible spectra also revealed sub-bandgap defect transitions at 2.2 and 2.4 eV....

    Abstract
Microstructures and hardness of aluminum alloy ductile iron were investigated by SEM, XRD, EPMA and hardness measurement techniques. The results show, increasing the Al-alloying element leads to decrease of free ferrite and carbide, as well as increase in the pearlite volume fraction. It is also has been found that in the higher values of Al, about 85% of the matrix would be pearlite. It is indicated that an increase in the aluminum content also leads to a decrease in the spacing between pearlite layers. XRD results show, in the presence of Al, intermetallic compounds such as Al6Fe, AlFe3C0.5, Fe3Al and FeAl were produced. Furthermore the hardness measurements illustrate that by increasing...

Pressure dependence of effective Coulomb interaction parameters in BaFe2As2 by first-principle calculation

    , Article Physica C: Superconductivity and its Applications ; Volume 548 , 15 May , 2018 , Pages 61-64 ; 09214534 (ISSN) Aghajani, M ; Hadipour, H ; Akhavan, M ; Sharif University of Technology

    Abstract
Pressure dependence of the onsite Coulomb interactions of the BaFe2As2 has been studied by employing the constrained random phase approximation within first-principle calculations. Analyzing total and projected density of states, a pseudogap is found for dxy band at the energy roughly 0.25 eV higher than the Fermi level. Also, by applying pressure the spectral weight of the dxy orbital vanishes while other orbitals remain metallic. The different screening channels, as discussed in four different models, affect significantly on the Hubbard U while the Hund J remains almost unchanged. The average onsite bare and partially and fully screened Coulomb interactions increase with different rates...

    Abstract
Iron corrosion in acidic media is a natural phenomenon that converts elemental iron to a more chemically-stable form, i.e. its oxide and hydroxide. In this study, the iron corrosion process is modeled as a completely implicit problem, solved by a novel finite difference model to provide insight into the ionic aspects of corrosion behavior. This new mathematical model eliminates the chemical potential parameters from the corrosion process equations, thereby reducing the need for experimental determination of chemical potentials. The eliminated-chemical-potential-parameters model predicts and quantifies key parameters (concentrations of conjugate base ion, iron (II) ion, hydrogen ion, anodic...
