    Abstract
Introduction of renewable energy sources (RESs) and independently operated multi-microgrid (MMG) systems have led to new issues in the management of power systems. In this context, uncertainty associated with RESs as well as intense ramps inflicted on the network called system flexibility constraints have raised new challenges in power systems. The new condition necessitates the implementation of novel frameworks that enable local system operators to efficiently manage the available resources to cope with the flexibility-ramp constraints. Moreover, the new framework should facilitate energy management in a system with an MMG structure considering uncertainty of RESs. Consequently, in this...

    Abstract
This paper attempted to control a hybrid DC microgrid in islanded operation mode using decentralized power management strategies. Proposed adaptive I/V characteristic for hybrid photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) and wind turbine generator (WTG) adapts the distributed energy resources (DER) behavior independently in accordance with the load demand. Hence, the PV module can spend its maximum power on load demand and spend the extra power for charging the BESS, which will regulate DC bus voltage and maintain the power balance within the microgrid. When load demand is beyond the maximum generation power of PV unit, WTG will supply the energy shortage. The proposed...

    Abstract
Regarding the increasing number of electrical devices in the smart homes that leads to increase in total electricity consumption and cost, it is essential to use energy management methods to reduce the electricity cost. However, this can cause resident's dissatisfaction. Hence, it is important to define a method in which cost and dissatisfaction be optimized simultaneously. Among different services, an electric vehicle is the one that can be used as an energy storage system, so it can reduce the daily cost despite of increasing the total energy consumption. In this paper, we study the effect of the EV on the cost and dissatisfaction in our proposed method. © 2018 IEEE

Audio segmentation and classification based on a selective analysis scheme

    , Article Proceedings - 10th International Multimedia Modelling Conference, MMM 2004, Brisbana, 5 January 2004 through 7 January 2004 ; 2004 , Pages 42-48 ; 0769520847 (ISBN); 9780769520841 (ISBN) Ghaemmaghami, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    2004
    Abstract
This paper addresses a new approach to segmentation and classification of audio through analysis of a smaller set of selective frames, which are identified by temporal decomposition (TD). These frames are located at the most steady instants, or event centroids, within a given block of the signal, which yield the maximal diversity over the set of selected features. Based on this selection scheme, the number of frames used in the analysis is reduced by at least 40%, while the temporal resolution is doubled as compared to that in typical audio classifiers. By constructing a classification system to segment audio into speech, music, speech-music, and others, it is shown that the proposed method...

Simulation and Implementation of Active Energy Management Algorithm on Residential Photovoltaic System with Storage

, M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Ghafouri Varzaneh, Saeed (Author) ; Abbaspour, Ali (Supervisor)
    Abstract
In majority of the (standalone or grid-connected) PV Systems, predefined rule-based algorithms are utilized in order to manage and control the flow of power. The function of these algorithms is to send the generated energy from solar panels either to load for consumption, or to battery for storage, or to the grid for sale. Their performance is based on predefined instructions and regardless of load change and consumption patterns. Therefore the total efficiency of these systems depend greately upon individual user’s load type and consumption pattern. In current research, an optimum and dynamic energy management algorithm is proposed using dynamic programming (DP) method, in order to increase...
