    Abstract
The direct electrosynthesis of neutral copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes of a new unsymmetrical carboxamide ligand, N,N′-bis(2-pyridinecarboxamide)-2-aminobenzylamine (H2bpabza) derived from 2-pyridinecarboxylic acid and 2-aminobenzylamine, was accomplished by electrochemical oxidation of anodic metals (copper and zinc) in an acetonitrile solution of the ligand. These compounds were characterized by elemental analyses and different spectroscopic methods. The crystal and molecular structures of the ligand, H2bpabza, and its copper complex, Cu(bpabza), were determined by X-ray diffraction. The copper atom adopts a distorted square-pyramidal (4 + 1) CuN2N′N″O coordination geometry with bpabza2-...

Methanol electrooxidation on a nickel electrode modified by nickel-dimethylglyoxime complex formed by electrochemical synthesis

    Abstract
Nickel-dimethylglyoxime complex (NiDMG) modified nickel electrode (Ni/NiDMG) showed a catalytic activity towards methanol oxidation in NaOH solution. The modified electrode prepared by the dimethylglyoxime anodic deposition on Ni electrode in the solution containing 0.20 mol L-1 NH4Cl + NH4OH (pH 9.50) and 1.0 × 10-4 mol L-1 dimethylglyoxime. The modified electrode conditioned by potential recycling in a potential range of 100-700 mV (vs. SCE) by cyclic voltammetry in alkaline medium (0.10 M NaOH). The results show that the NiODMG film on the electrode behaves as an efficient catalyst for the electrooxidation of methanol in alkaline medium via Ni(III) species formed on the electrode with the...

An electrochemical synthesis of reduced graphene oxide/zinc nanocomposite coating through pulse-potential electrodeposition technique and the consequent corrosion resistance

    Abstract
Pulse-potential coelectrodeposition of reduced graphene oxide/zinc (rGO-Zn) nanocomposite coating is directly controlled upon a steel substrate from a one-pot aqueous mixture containing [GO-/Zn2+]δ+ nanoclusters. GO nanosheets are synthesized by modified Hummer's approach while Zn cations are produced in the solution and deposited on GO nanosheets using anodic dissolution technique. Eventually, nanoclusters are reduced to rGO-Zn film through an electrochemical process. Chemical composition, surface morphology, and corrosion resistance of the thin film are characterized. Results show that the corrosion resistance of rGO-Zn coating is approximately 10 times more than the bare steel. © 2018 S....

Electrochemical synthesis of reduced graphene oxide/TiO2 nanotubes/Ti for high-performance supercapacitors

    , Article Ionics ; Volume 21, Issue 2 , 2014 , Pages 525-531 ; ISSN: 09477047 Gobal, F ; Faraji, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
RGO/TiO2NTs/Ti electrodes with high surface area and good capacitive characteristics were prepared by simple electrochemical reduction of graphene oxide (GO) onto the previously formed TiO2 nanotubes. Microstructure studies show that reduced graphene oxide (RGO) having high surface area has been deposited onto the TiO2NT arrays. The electrochemical capacitive behaviors of the obtained electrodes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), galvanostatic charge–discharge studies, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 1 M H2SO4 solution. The electrochemical data demonstrated that the electrodes displayed specific capacitance of 410 F g−1 at the current density of 50 A g−1 and...

Investigation of the electrochemical behavior of catechol and 4-methylcatechol in the presence of methyl mercapto thiadiazol as a nucleophile: application to electrochemical synthesis

    , Article Journal of Applied Electrochemistry ; Volume 40, Issue 1 , 2010 , Pages 115-122 ; 0021891X (ISSN) Shahrokhian, S ; Rastgar, S ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
The present study concerns the electrochemical behavior of catechol and 4-methylcatechol in the presence of 2-mercapto-5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (MMT) in aqueous medium on the surface of the glassy carbon electrode by means of cyclic voltammetry and controlled-potential coulometry. The oxidation mechanism was deduced from voltammetric and spectrophotometric data. The electro-generation of quinoid intermediates and their subsequent Michael-type reaction with MMT has been investigated as a clean and convenient strategy for the synthesis of corresponding reaction products. In addition, electro-synthesis of Michael addition products has been successfully accomplished by controlled-potential...
