Two parameter tuned multi-objective evolutionary algorithms for a bi-objective vendor managed inventory model with trapezoidal fuzzy demand

    , Article Applied Soft Computing Journal ; Volume 30 , May , 2015 , Pages 567-576 ; 15684946 (ISSN) Sadeghi, J ; Akhavan Niaki, S. T ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2015
    Abstract
This paper presents a bi-objective vendor managed inventory (BOVMI) model for a supply chain problem with a single vendor and multiple retailers, in which the demand is fuzzy and the vendor manages the retailers' inventory in a central warehouse. The vendor confronts two constraints: number of orders and available budget. In this model, the fuzzy demand is formulated using trapezoidal fuzzy number (TrFN) where the centroid defuzzification method is employed to defuzzify fuzzy output functions. Minimizing both the total inventory cost and the warehouse space are the two objectives of the model. Since the proposed model is formulated into a bi-objective integer nonlinear programming (INLP)...

    Abstract
For a power transfer path, total transfer capability (TTC) represents maximum power that can be transferred over the transmission system. Unified power flow controller (UPFC) is a device that can be used to increase in TTC. This study presents a new method for optimal UPFC application to minimise power loss while enhancing TTC. Based on UPFC injection model, the solution region of UPFC parameters is first found using the proposed method to maximise TTC. It then searches the solution region to find optimal UPFC control mode and setting to minimise system power loss. The proposed method is applied to the IEEE-Reliability Test System and the UPFC application impact are evaluated. Comparative...

    , Article Energies ; Volume 10, Issue 11 , 2017 ; 19961073 (ISSN) Amir, V ; Jadid, S ; Ehsan, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Abstract
A microgrid (MG) is a small-scale version of the power system which makes possible the integration of renewable resources as well as achieving maximum demand side management (DSM) utilization. The future power system will be faced with severe uncertainties owing to penetration of renewable resources. Consequently, the uncertainty assessment of system performance is essential. The conventional energy scheduling in an MG may not be suitable for active distribution networks. Hence, this study focuses on the probabilistic analysis of optimal power dispatch considering economic aspects in a multi-carrier networked microgrid. The aim is to study the impact of uncertain behavior of loads, renewable...

    Abstract
Uncertainty and variability in the supply sector of renewable-penetrated power systems is becoming a new challenge for secure operation of these systems which if not responded properly may cause large amounts of load and supply curtailments. To meet this challenge, some ISOs recently have employed a new product named Flexible Ramping Product (FRP) into their markets which enhances the capability of the system to overcome such uncertainties by reserving additional ramp rates. In this regard, a new framework for implementing FRP in real-time market is proposed here. The proposed framework provides a proper opportunity for participation of thermal generating units in procuring FRP requirements....

    Abstract
This paper proposes a methodology for optimal dispatch of bilateral electricity contracts, which may endanger the system voltage stability in light of short-term operational planning of a deregulated power system. In this framework the value that each owner of a transaction is willing to pay will reflect how much the electricity contract is important to be implemented physically. The proposed model dispatches optimally the bilateral transactions regarding the prices offered by owners of bilateral contracts for reactive power and transmission capacity utilization in one hand and, the total operational costs of reactive power resources in the other hand. The model also includes the limits...

    Abstract
Growing demand for flexible ramp products (FRPs) to maintain the power balance in active distribution networks (ADNs) has expanded the use of costly fast-start generators in the upstream real-time market. In order to limit the power system's reliance on these units, it is necessary to establish new sources for providing ADNs with FRPs. In this context, the present paper examines the abilities of distributed energy resources (DERs) and active loads for supplying the ramp capacity demands of ADNs. Accordingly, a local real-time market was established in the ADN, empowering several DERs and active loads to provide the network's FRPs demands. The proposed market was formed in the context of a...

    Abstract
Summary Increasing interest in smart grids exhibits its potential benefits for providing reliable, secure, efficient, environmental friendly and sustainable electricity from renewable energy resources. Here, reliability models of four types of renewable and hybrid distributed generation were developed. A fuzzy multi-objective function was suggested for simultaneous optimization of reliability, electricity generation cost, grid loss and voltage profile. This not only considers uncertainty of renewable energy resources but also provides smart generation dispatching. An efficient reliability index consisting of energy and interruption frequency terms was also defined. A novel hybrid heuristic...

    Abstract
This paper presents a new unified power-quality conditioning system (MC-UPQC), capable of simultaneous compensation for voltage and current in multibus/multifeeder systems. In this configuration, one shunt voltage-source converter (shunt VSC) and two or more series VSCs exist. The system can be applied to adjacent feeders to compensate for supply-voltage and load current imperfections on the main feeder and full compensation of supply-voltage imperfections on the other feeders. In the proposed configuration, all converters are connected back to back on the dc side and share a common dc-link capacitor. Therefore, power can be transferred from one feeder to adjacent feeders to compensate for...

    Abstract
In this paper, security constrained reserve management (SCRM) problem is formulated. In this trend, security constrained economic dispatch as well as operating reserve in both normal and {N-1} contingency condition are considered. To address the computational complexity associated with the SCRM problem, the distributed-SCRM (D-SCRM) is proposed. In the suggested method, the power system is decomposed to several subsystems called zone. These zones are interconnected via some tie-lines. By defining two virtual generation units at the middle of each tie-line, all neighbor zones become isolated. This causes the main SCRM problem to be converted to some subproblems. To solve these subproblems,...

    Abstract
Rapid growth of the variable and intermittent renewable generation in multimicrogrid distribution network (MMG-DN) has derived a gross violation in power balance due to the scarcity of ramp capacity. To neutralize this shortage, the present study develops a market-oriented approach for supplying flexibility ramping products (FRPs) in an MMG-DN. In this article, the proposed approach appraises a ramping capacity of local microgrids (MGs), which encompass various distributed energy resources through a bilevel programming. To do so, an interval-based security constraint economic dispatch process is accomplished at the upper level considering the network's requirement of upward/downward ramp...

    Abstract
Remote controlled switches (RCSs) have the ability to isolate the faulted area from other parts of the distribution system. On the other hand, the dispatchable distributed generators (DDGs) and tie lines can supply the interrupted loads after fault occurrence trough microgrids and reduce the outage time. In this regard, this article proposes a planning model for simultaneous placement of RCSs, DDGs, and tie lines to improve distribution system reliability. The presence of renewable distributed generations (RDGs) and energy storage systems, which have an increasing penetration in today's distribution networks are also considered. Moreover, two different practical load shedding methods are...

    Abstract
This paper presents a model-based method for applying online proactive generators redispatch to improve damping of the critical electromechanical oscillations of power system. The proposed method comprises two stages: 1) monitoring modal characteristics of oscillatory modes in ambient condition, and 2) applying generators redispatch based on sensitivities of the critical mode to the generators active power changes using a new analytic method. An online identification method such as error feedback lattice recursive least square adaptive filter is applied for online estimation of the oscillatory modes. Then, whenever the damping ratio of an identified mode is less than a preset threshold, its...
