    Elsevier Ltd  2019
    Abstract
Given the significant number of the studies conducted to explore construct validity, adopting various approaches, and the paucity of the studies that employed the experimental approach to validation, the current study was aimed at exploring the adequacy of the experimental approach to construct validation, drawing upon advertising literacy as the construct of the researchers’ concern. To this end, the researchers pursued the experimentation, test administration, and validation phases, respectively. To identify the effect of the experimentation, an independent samples t-test was run; there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. , M.Sc. Thesis Sharif University of Technology Masoumirad, Mandana (Author) ; Vesal, Mohammad (Supervisor) ; Madanizadeh, Ali (Co-Advisor)
    Abstract
In this study, we estimate the relationship between the quality of previous education, the quality of current program, the condition of first semester, and the socio-demographic characteristics of students with their performance in the program. We use graduation GPA of students as a measure of their performance. Using the administrative data of graduate students at Sharif Graduate School of Management and Economics from 2000 to 2012, we find that there is a positive correlation between the previous degree GPA and the first semester GPA with graduation GPA. Furthermore, in our sample the GPA of male students is on average lower than the GPA of female students. At last, we find that the...

    Abstract
An educational robot is described, which is designed and constructed for use in the laboratory of Principles of Electrical Engineering. The discrete nature of design, conforming to a simple block strategy, allows for fairly easy introduction of basic and fundamental concepts of Electrical Engineering to the freshman students, including control, actuation, wireless signal transmission, and analogue/digital conversions. Each block or module represents one or few engineering ideas and helps the students to understand the interplay and connection between system divisions, and enhance their creative thinking. Circuits are designed and implemented such that both structure and functionality of each...

Numerous studies have been conducted on the effectiveness of reflective journal writing in (second language) teacher education. However, only a few studies have explored pre-service and in-service teachers' own perceptions in this regard, especially in the context of ELT (English Language Teaching). To address this gap, a focus group discussion was conducted among six in-service teachers on the advantages and challenges of the journal writing task in a BA Second Language Teaching Methodology course they had attended. Thematic analysis of the discussion showed that the participants believed writing journals had contributed to their self-awareness, understanding of issues related to ELT,...

    Abstract
Based on general "System Theory", a system when it comes to its intended operational life; must exhibits three distinguished phases of (1) Pre-mission, (2) Mission, and (3) Post-mission. During Pre-mission one evaluates the system elements readiness to conduct the mission; their proper configurations in addition to their support roles to conduct their organizational role. During Post-mission, we check whether our evaluations were in fact, correct to the levels expected. Both pre and post mission phases are necessary for a successful mission. An education system; especially designed for space applications which aims to deliver the necessary workforce for the relevant industries and other...

    Abstract
There is no doubt that education is the key to development. An important step in evaluating the condition of education in a society is to estimate the rate of return to education in that society. This paper estimates the private rate of return to schooling for men born in 1951–1983 in Iran using a pseudo-panel fixed-effect model. This is the first study that measures unbiasedly the rate of return to schooling in Iran. We construct the pseudo-panel data using six repeated cross sections of Household Expenditures and Income Surveys between 2008 and 2013. Our estimates show that the overall rate of return is around 9% based on the pseudo-panel fixed-effect approach. The estimates reveal a...

    Abstract
Although more than half a century is passed since space technology was first developed, developing countries are just beginning to enter the arena, focusing mainly on educating professionals. Space technology by itself is an interdisciplinary science, is costly, and developing at a fast pace. Moreover, a fruitful education system needs to remain dynamic if the quality of education is the main concern, making it a complicated system. This paper makes use of the System Engineering Approach and the experiences of developed countries in this area while incorporating the needs of the developing countries to devise a comprehensive program in space engineering at the Master's level. Abstract
After school tutoring education is a concept that varies widely between countries. Evidence suggests that one of the factors explaining this difference is the existence of competitive tests. There is also evidence for Iran that, because of the existence of competitive test of the national entrance exam, a large percentage of Iranian families use after school tutoring to their children get a successful result in this exam. But the question is how much after school tutoring is effective? The answer to this question is important because if after school tutoring is effective, low-income families are expected to be unable to provide such training, and the national entrance exam will prevent...
