    Enhancement effect of structured packing on the liquid-liquid mass transfer coefficients

    Abstract
    The mass transfer coefficients of single drops in liquid-liquid extraction systems were studied using a single drop apparatus both with and without packing. The chemical system of n-butanol-succinic acid-water and the Structured Packing (SMV.350Y) were used in the liquid-liquid extraction. Based on the experimental results obtained for both mass transfer directions, in most cases, the structured packing had considerably enhanced the mass transfer coefficient by increasing the contact area between two phases and also increasing the contact time, especially in the contaminated systems.     Abstract
    The reactive extraction behavior on the mean drop size and distribution for synergistic extraction of vanadium from sulfate medium with di-(2-ethylhexyl) phosphoric acid (D2EHPA) and its mixture with tributyl phosphate (TBP) in kerosene has been interpreted in the modified rotating disc contactor column. In batch experiments, the maximum extraction efficiency was obtained in the single extraction system with 0.29 molar D2EHPA at an equilibrium pH of 2, whereas the extraction percentage was significantly increased by adding 0.3 molar TBP into the same D2EHPA concentration due to the synergistic effect.     In this paper, the hydrodynamic behaviour of the chemical reaction system (selenium, tellurium, and TBP) was interpreted in the Oldshue-Rushton extraction column. The optimum operating parameters for extracting the selenium and tellurium from chloride medium were carried out by using the batch experiments.     Abstract
    In this article, droplet size and its distribution along a pulsed liquid-liquid extraction column, is studied where SiO2 nanoparticles with concentrations of 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1vol.% and different hydrophobicities are applied to the dispersed phase. Using ultrasonication, nanoparticles were dispersed in kerosene as the base fluid. Nanofluids' stability was ensured using a UV-vis spectrophotometer. Some 22,000 droplets were measured by photographic technique and results were compared with systems containing no-nanoparticles (Water-Acetic acid-Kerosene).     Abstract
    A promising electrochemical sensor was developed based on a layer by layer process by electro-polymerization of pyrrole in the presence of new coccine (NC) as dopant anion on the surface of the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) pre-coated glassy carbon electrode (GCE). The modified electrode was used as a new and sensitive electrochemical sensor for voltammetric determination of sumatriptan (SUM). The electrochemical behavior of SUM was investigated on the surface of the modified electrode using linear sweep voltammetry (LSV).     The 3D simulation of the hydrodynamic behavior of a rotating disc contactor (RDC) by means of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) was investigated for the n-butanol-succinic acid-water (BSW) system.     There are high attractions in the development of conducting polymer (CP) coatings to improve the electrochemical properties and biocompatibility of electrodes in the area of biosensors. A new type of the modified electrodes is prepared in a layer-by-layer process by using multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) and poly-pyrrole.
