    Abstract
    We investigate the effect of directed short- and long-range connections in a simple model of a small-world network. Our model is one in which we can determine many quantities of interest by an exact analytical method. We calculate the function [formula presented] defined as the number of sites affected up to time T when a naive spreading process starts in the network. As opposed to shortcuts, the presence of unfavorable bonds has a negative effect on this quantity. Hence, the spreading process may not be able to affect all of the network.     Abstract
    In this paper, after studying the demands and requirements of a perfect smart grid and specifications of network topology and sensor nodes utilized in a Wireless Sensor Network [WSN], a manipulated version of them is proposed to be combined with smart grid in order to improve the data acquisition step, increase the security and facilitate the process of information and desired commands from users. We will take the advantage of computer simulations to illustrate improved capacity and speed of this method.     Abstract
    In this paper, a two channel abdominal PPG instrumentation is developed. The proposed instrument consists of IR-LED and its driver, photo-detector and data acquisition card. The modulation frequency generation, demodulation and digital signal processing is done completely in the digital domain using LabView. The results show that the developed instrument is able to acquire signal from the abdomen even at 4 cm source to detector separation. This instrument is intended for future application in trans-abdominal fetal heart rate detection. © 2008 Springer-Verlag  

    An efficient data collection approach for wireless sensor networks

    Abstract
    One of the most important applications of wireless sensor networks is data collection. This paper proposes as efficient approach for data collection in wireless sensor networks by introducing Member Forward List. This list includes the nodes with highest priority for forwarding the data. When a node fails or dies, this list is used to select the next node with higher priority. The benefit of this node is that it prevents the algorithm from repeating when a node fails or dies. The results show that Member Forward List decreases power consumption and latency in wireless sensor networks

    Abstract
    Currently there is no standard test collection for evaluation of Farsi information retrieval systems. In this paper we introduce Mahak, the first complete test collection generally available for evaluating Farsi information retrieval systems. We also discuss our construction process in detail.     Abstract
    The casing treatment and flow injection upstream of the rotor tip are two effective approaches in suppressing instabilities or recovering from a fully developed stall. The current work presents a state of the art design for the blade tip injection. This is characterized by a high pressure fluid injecting means for delivery of a jet flow directly into the casing treatment machined into the shroud. The casing treatment is positioned over the blade tip region and exceeds the impeller axially by some 30% of the tip chord both in the upstream and downstream directions.     Abstract
    A series of low-speed wind tunnel tests were performed to investigate the unsteady pressure distribution over an airfoil. Dynamic pitching motion was produced by oscillating the model over a range of reduced frequencies, k=0.022 - 0.066. In addition, steady data were acquired and examined to furnish as a baseline for analysis and comparison. The model was oscillated between 0-18° angle of attack. Surface static pressure was measured from x/c=5-80% for both upper and lower surfaces.     A two-channel time analyser data acquisition system is developed for analysis of stochastic processes of random time interval pulses. The system is implemented on a typical low cost FPGA device. Two stochastic processes of nuclear interactions can be recorded by the system independently without any inter-channel dead time behaviour. The experimental results without any hardware based data reduction are transferred to the computer to perform arbitrary post analysis of the data using powerful software engineering tools to estimate the statistical properties of the processes.     This paper will consider the mathematical definition of chaos (in sense of Devaney) in order to select appropriate chaos tests. The tests chosen according to investigate the properties mentioned in the definition. In fact, these are prerequisites of chaoticity. Either it will be represented that "sensitivity dependence on initial conditions" is not equivalent to chaos, although some researchers considering it.     Abstract
    Dynamic Neural network was used to minimize the amount of data required to predict the location of transition point on a 2-D oscillatory wing. For this purpose, various experimental tests were carried out on a section of a 660kw wind turbine blade. A multi layer non linear perceptrons network was trained using the output signals of four hot films attached on the upper surface of the model. Results show that using only 50% of the test data, the trained network was able to the transition point with an acceptable accuracy.     In this paper the analytical and simulation modelling of the combined heat and mass transfer processes that occur in a solid desiccant wheel is carried out. Using the numerical method, the performance of adiabatic rotary dehumidifier and enthalpy wheels are parametrically studied, and the optimal rotational speed is determined by examining the outlet adsorption-side humidity profiles.     In this research the radical chlorination reaction of polyethylene has been carried out in perchloroethylene solvent under atmospheric pressure, using chlorine gas and UV light. In order to characterize the structural configuration of chlorinated polymer and study the reaction rate, different samples have been taken in equal periods of time during the reaction time.     Experiments are performed to investigate the atomization characteristics of mixed-interaction regions of sprays of two swirl injectors installed side by side. Both droplet size and velocity distributions on a plane perpendicular to the axes of the injectors are measured using a PDA system. As a result of the interaction phenomenon, a region of secondary atomization is identified that differs significantly from the hollow region spray of a single swirl injector.     Abstract
    The folding rates of protein were shown to correlate with the degree of heterogeneity in the formation of native contacts. It was shown that both experimental rates and simulated free energy barriers for 2-state proteins depend on the degree of heterogeneity present in the folding process. Heterogeneity due to variance in the distribution of native loop lengths, and variance in the distribution of φ values, were observed to increase folding rates and reduce folding barriers. The observed effect due to φ variance was found to be the most statistically significant, because φ variance captures both heterogeneity arising from native topology and that arising from energetics

    Abstract
    In the shoulder disease, a large various tools is employed to assess the results of the treatment. In this work, a new system is proposed to record abduction-adduction movement of human shoulder. The system consists of a cloth that is stretchable, two Rubbery Ruler sensors (RRs) that attached on humerus of both arms and a data acquisition system. Two Xsens sensors attached on humerus of both arms are used to calibrate the orientation for the RRs output.     A table-based implementation of an application specific data prefetching approach is presented in this paper. This approach is proposed to improve the performance of the application specific instruction-set processors (ASIP) we develop customized to an object-oriented application. In this approach, the cache controller prefetches all data fields of an object required by a class method, when the class method is invoked. In the proposed table-based implementation, the cache controller monitors the class method calls and records the index of object data members that each method accessed.
