    , Article International Journal of Corrosion ; Volume 2018 , 2018 ; 16879325 (ISSN) Moshgi Asl, S ; Afshar, A ; Yaghoubinezhad, Y ; Sharif University of Technology
    Hindawi Limited  2018
    Abstract
Pulse-potential coelectrodeposition of reduced graphene oxide/zinc (rGO-Zn) nanocomposite coating is directly controlled upon a steel substrate from a one-pot aqueous mixture containing [GO-/Zn2+]δ+ nanoclusters. GO nanosheets are synthesized by modified Hummer's approach while Zn cations are produced in the solution and deposited on GO nanosheets using anodic dissolution technique. Eventually, nanoclusters are reduced to rGO-Zn film through an electrochemical process. Chemical composition, surface morphology, and corrosion resistance of the thin film are characterized. Results show that the corrosion resistance of rGO-Zn coating is approximately 10 times more than the bare steel. © 2018 S....

Hydrophobic octadecylamine-functionalized graphene/TiO2 hybrid coating for corrosion protection of copper bipolar plates in simulated proton exchange membrane fuel cell environment

    , Article International Journal of Hydrogen Energy ; Volume 45, Issue 30 , 2020 , Pages 15380-15389 Sadeghian, Z ; Hadidi, M. R ; Salehzadeh, D ; Nemati, A ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2020
    Abstract
In the present work, G-TiO2 and G-ODA-TiO2 hybrids were prepared by concurrent surface functionalization and reducing of graphene oxide (GO) using octadecylamine (ODA). The G-TiO2 and G-ODA-TiO2 powders were deposited on the copper surface by electrophoretic deposition (EPD) technique. The wettability of coatings revealed the preferable hydrophobic characteristic of G-ODA-TiO2 compared to G-TiO2 and bare copper with water contact angles of 130°, 101°, and 87°, respectively. The anti-corrosion performance of specimens in a 0.5 M H2SO4 solution was appraised by the potentiodynamic polarization (Tafel analysis), which clearly showed that G-TiO2 and G-ODA-TiO2 coatings can act as a great barrier...

    , Article Corrosion Science ; Volume 185 , 2021 ; 0010938X (ISSN) Haddadi, S. A ; Ramazani Saadatabadi, A ; Mahdavian, M ; Arjmand, M ; Sharif University of Technology
    Elsevier Ltd  2021
    Abstract
Graphene-based carbon hollow spheres (CHSs) fabrication, doped with 2-mercaptobenzimidazole (MBI) was successfully done in previous work. The active/barrier corrosion protection performance (CPP) of epoxy coatings was evaluated using salt spray test, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and scanning vibrating electrode technique (SVET). Results proved the active/barrier CPP enhancement of epoxy coatings in the presence of 3 wt. % MBI@CHSs. While the presence of MBI and empty CHSs in epoxy coatings did not further improve the active performance. An improvement in the adhesion loss of the epoxy coating, ca. 58 %, was observed in the presence of 3 wt. % MBI@CHSs. © 2021

    Abstract
The effect of plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) pre-treatments on corrosion behavior of titanium in simulated body fluid (SBF) is investigated. The resultant coatings in different compositions and morphologies were examined by high-resolution field emission scanning electron microscopy equipped with energy-dispersive spectrometer and x-ray diffraction. The PEO-treated specimens revealed distribution of coating species, mainly the titanium-rich inner coating region. However, findings show highly localized variations in composition within their...

In order to find the kinetic release of intercalated inhibitor a prediction model was introduced in 3.5% NaCl solution. The model expressed that the pH as the processing parameter has special effect on the kinetic releasing of the inhibitor. It can enhance the amount of...

    Abstract
Coating is an effective approach to address the high corrosion rate of biodegradable Mg alloys, as their main challenge toward their extensive use. In this regard, it was tried to control the degradation process of an Mg-4Zn alloy by Ca addition, equal channel angular pressing (ECAP), and hydrothermal coating. The obtained results indicated that excellent grain refinement induced by Ca incorporation and ECAP simultaneously, improved both mechanical strength and corrosion resistance of the Mg-based substrate. The achieved grain refinement resulted in a thicker, more compact and integrated coating, where the ECAP-processed Mg-4Zn-0.5Ca alloy exhibited the best coating quality with no...
